"Must be nice" bank teller strikes again.

Okay, I took over a large deposit that included $5,000 in hundred dollar bills. She looks at me and makes some little joke about $1,000 disappearing, etc. I laugh politely.

Then she says, "Did you just sell something?"

"No."

"So, do you just keep it under your mattress?"

I joke back, "well, it's safer than the stock market or the banks."

She starts counting the bills. Then she says, "Why are these sticky?"

"Without missing a beat, I say, "I really love money."

She stares blank for a second, and then turns absolutely purple. She starts laughing very hard. I'm laughing as well. She finally says, "I should have known if you keep it under your mattress."

Wow...what an unprofessional teller! Seems like her parents/manager never taught her about appropriate conversation.

I'm glad you get some entertainment out of her but wow. Maybe she's trying to flirt with you?

No. He's just there to carry the money. She's flirting with the money.

I don't think I'd trust a $5K cash deposit to an ATM - better to do it through a human.

My very first ATM bank deposit was "lost" and it took a whole lot of effort to get it reconciled. I had a receipt, but where is the check? You tell me. I put it in the machine. Where did it go? You tell me. Here is the transaction number. Yes, but where is the check? Either in the ATM or wherever it goes when it leaves the ATM. The check? I deposited it in the machine. It doesn't show on your account. I see that, but I was just following the instruction on the machine and it gave me a receipt and everything. Here is the transaction number. Where is the check?

That was several years ago and I am never putting a deposit in a machine again.

Was this bank teller out of line?
It must be nice.....part 2

Obviously I am late to the party. It is nice to know the origins of this obligatory Otter remark.

I withdrew $100 from an ATM last year and I was only able to retrieve $60 since the money barely fed out of the machine. I followed-up with my bank and they said they would look into the matter. My account was credited for $100 and I do not think that they ever deducted the $60 I pulled from the machine.

Are ATMs at a bank maintained by a third party vendor or the bank? There was a video camera on the machine but my guess is that the bank or vendor did not want to spend the time to investigate this item.

I would avoid going to this teller at all costs.
