Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I've noticed we get a few threads on here relating to potato chips, corn based snacks and the like. I stumbled on this website while doing some serious research into a question my colleagues at work were pondering*. I thought it might interest a few of you.

*The question was, "how much potato goes into a standard 25g bag of potato chips?" Any guesses?

Spoiler:
It takes approximately one medium sized potato to make one 25g bag of Golden Wonder crisps http://www.goldenwonder.com/faqs.asp

These should be available near you, since I can find them in NC -

And if you come down south, you can get some of AMERICA'S ORIGINAL BY GOD KETCHUP CHIPS -

That's right, Terry's chips have been brought back by the good people at Food City Supermarkets in Tennessee. I found them in Virginia this weekend and bought 2 bags. Mmmmmmm....

I like bacon, but that's almost enough to turn you vegetarian...almost.

Hmmm. Middlesworth BBQ chips are so absolutely satisfying. For those who don't know, their BBQ chips are like a ... BBQ and sugar porno (with pretense that porno is the best thing in the world). Well, I always thought it was the sweetness that made them so good. It's been a long time since I ate them. I'd probably weight like 500 lbs if I still lived in PA.

Grippo's BBQ, Hot Dill Pickle, or Hot and Spicy Kettle chips are about as good as chips can possibly be.

Potato chips are the most awesome thing ever.

Wise
Lays
Herrs

It's all good. I like plain, ruffles, sour cream and onion, BBQ, and many others.

Still haven't tried them and won't.. I tried all the new flavors last time Lays did this promotion. And of the 4 this time, the Cappuccino one I won't try.
I will say that the wasabi ginger ones are really good. I even like the mango salsa ones. Not impressed by the bacon mac and cheese.. but I bet those ones win this time because bacon.

I actually have a bag of these and they taste pretty awesome. They're very sweet but have the right hint of salt and they smell great.

My favorite batch from the last time was the chicken and waffle flavor, so go figure.

Lumping other chips in to a Doritos thread seems wrong

I agree with this. In my book, Doritos are not potato chips and potato chips are not Doritos. I have never liked the fact that all the potato chip posts get lumped in with the "Dorritos" business.

Sorry about that. Putting a potato chip post in the potato chip thread was pretty stupid of me.

And Fritos are not Cheetos which are not Cheez-Its. Do we need a thread for each style of junk food?

It's been a fun thread over the years. Mods should just change the title of the Doritos thread.

and to think the person that submitted that flavor idea, (didn't have to come up with the recipe) got 50k for the idea.

A woman at work is good friends with the woman that submitted the mango salsa flavor. She brought in a bag for us to try, I like them. I haven't tried the Capp or the Wasabi ones, didn't think much of the Mac N Cheese ones.
