I wish Trader's Joe bring back those bacon smoked popcorn. I loved them.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

^^ I grabbed a bag of the Lay's Nashville Hot Chicken. They taste like cardboard. Terrible.

I also finally found some of the Baconator Pringles and I have to say... you guys were right, they're not very good. They aren't terrible, I'll finish the ones I bought, but they definitely should have spent a little more time developing that one. They taste more like the grill than an actual burger. Maybe that's what they were going for, that 10pm, grease scraped off the grill flavor.

What's up with Canadians and their ketchup chips?

I'm not Canadian and I used to really like the ketchup chips.

Lays used to make a bag of those that sold in the states, but I haven't been able to find any brand that does in a long time.

Are we talking about the Ruffle's All Dressed chips? "#1 Canadian Flavor" so the bag says. We love those. Haven't been able to find them since Covid though.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I picked up 4 of the 5 Lays (didn't realize there's a chile one)

I like the pizza ones the best of the three I've eaten, it passes as close enough of a pizza flavor for me.

The Philly cheese steak are good, but I feel like all these cheese flavored chips are somewhat similar and always the most promising of the flavors.

Carnitas I think they went overboard, very salty (and I am not adverse to salt).

Haven't tried Nashville yet.

Purchased all at Acme if you have one nearby

Here's what I said about those 4 years ago:

"While the flavor is "OK" it's nothing spectacular with the amount of flavoring from one chip to the next frequently inconsistent. One chip would taste like it came from a bag of "plain" Ruffles while the next would have some flavor from the spice dusting. The flavor is much like BBQ combined with Vinegar and enjoyable *when* you get a chip with the flavors. I didn't get a "salty" flavor beyond that of a normal chip - which, IMHO, is a good thing. Based on the manufacturer's description, I expected a much bolder flavor profile. Having not benefited from trying the original North-of-the-border version I trust our Canuck friends who've reviewed these. They say they're "different" with not as "bold" a flavor and that's good enough for me. I'll give Pepsico time to "fix" them and try them again in a couple of months but if nothing's changed I'll not purchase more."

I'd forgotten all about them. If I run across any I'll try them again as those with an ample dusting of stuff were pretty good.

Picked up these chips today at Costco, and I was very pleased. Very light and crisp with a strong buttery flavor as well.

Has anyone else tried these?

They are like Cheez Itís, but their only ingredient is cheese. What sort of witchcraft is this? How is it crunchy and light? In any case, it must be a Godsend for anyone with Celiac disease or who wants to cut carbs.

My wife eats these. She gets them through Boxed. They’re kind of expensive in the store like $4.59 a bag

Parmesan crisps like that have become a fairly big thing thanks to the latest diet trends. They're awesome but also very expensive. Also not too hard to make at home.

Yeah, good but expensive. We've made them at home.
Also, microwaving pepperoni circles makes less greasy, crispy, yummy things.

I like Ruffles All Dressed or whatever. Can't find just old fashioned barbecue any more, at least in a big bag.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I think they came up in the thread before. For me, I'm not the biggest fan. I love burnt cheese (like the side of a French Onion soup or what drips into the pan on a grilled cheese), but these don't have that burnt crispy texture. I bought them once or twice, and I have not gotten them again since. I tried both the parmesan and cheddar flavors. Costco sells these.

Costco sells a "big" bag of Whisps for $9.99 (9.5 oz = 10 servings of 23 crisps, though I only eat a few at a time). It's still pricey but I think it is worth it.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

Grocer near me sells another brand; they're larger and come in a smaller tray rather than a bag. Much better than Whisps, IMO. I don't recall the brand name but they shelve them at the cheese counter, not with crackers. There's an "Everything" flavored variety which are amazing.

Looks like the same brand but those are smaller. Found an image; they're about the diameter of a large cookie and come in a plastic tray.

Those are great. I also could not imagine eating 23 at a time. A bag goes a long way.
