I got a free bag of those at Shaw’s. They’re strangely ok.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

My oldest brother retired from Interstate Brands, the parent company for Hostess products, earlier this year. Yesterday there was a lot of news about the supposed launch of peanut butter and pickle sandwich flavor Twinkies. I think they were pulling everyone's chain, but my brother posted about it and said it was just the result of their best employee retiring.

I found a bag of Ghost Pepper Chex Mix. They are pretty tasty.

Dangit. Our easily obtainable salsa of preference is no longer hordeable.

We have enjoyed the Kroger house brand Private Selection™ Restaurant Style Salsa, Medium for a decade and they don't carry it in shelf-stable jars anymore. Now it's in tubs with "perishable, keep refrigerated" on the label. I'm sure it's still tasty, but less convenient for post-apocalyptic snacking.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

It's a matter of convenience, I reckon. If I were to start home canning salsa I'd just make it from scratch. I suppose I could try freezing a tub to see how it survives a freeze/thaw cycle...
