I didn't realize this was a six-year bump.

Not a big deal for me either way, but the other "salty snack food" thread has been regularly active, though it hasn't mentioned this Lay's wave.

The Cappuccino chips are disgusting, but the Wasabi Ginger chips were pretty good.

Damn, I missed the bump as well. Apologies.

I'm not a huge chip eater, but I like trying different things. I tried one bite of the Cappucino chips ...

Have not even been able to find the wasabi/ginger, bacon mac&cheese, or the mango salsa. The shelves are clogged with the Crappucino.

Someone at my office brought in a bag of cappuccino chips one day and set them out in the common area. My co-workers would eat a bag of sawdust if it was free, but at the end of the work day the chips were still there.

I think some of the more exotic chip flavors are intended as eye-catchers on store shelves to remind people the brand exists. Most people have committed to one or two brands/flavors by the time they are adults. I don't believe that Lay's thinks this flavor will sweep the country.

Maybe it was the bag I had, but with those all I could taste was the seasoning. They were as bad as those MSG-coated flavored Ruffles.

I saw the cappuccino ones in CVS about 2 weeks ago but none of the others. I was in that same CVS the other day and they were gone. I'd like to try the mango and wasabi ones.

I saw the Siracha ones again about a month ago at Safeway. They keep popping up from time to time.

I think the Mango Salsa and Bacon Mac & Cheese flavors are both pretty good. The Wasabi Ginger ones I thought were disgusting and leave a weird aftertaste. I haven't tried the Cappuccino kind yet but they don't sound that appealing to me. I could see them getting old after a couple but I might just get a small bag just to have tried them all.

I liked those initially but got tired of them. I didn't taste the chicken at all really but more just a maple syrup flavor. I think those might have been better if they were wavy instead of regular for some reason.

They've had some weird fucking chip flavors over in the UK (or as they say, flavoured crisps), though some of them are really tasty, like Brannigan's Roast Beef & Mustard crisps, or Chipmunk's Beef & Onion. Yummers!

These are the options up here right now.

Bacon Poutine - not bad. Just tastes like fake bacon flavour, so it'll probably win.
Cinnamon Bun - gross. Smells good, but tastes terrible.
Jalapeno Mac & Cheese - Good the first time. Second bag didn't taste so great
Tzatziki - haven't tried it yet, but I can't imagine this will turn out well.

Interesting. I'm assuming these are found in Canada?

The ones in the states the bacon mac and cheese I had the same thought. It just smells/tastes like bacon.. so it'll likely win because bacon.

The Jalapeno mac & cheese sounds interesting.. as does the Tzatziki... I may have to see if I can get across to Windsor or have a friend that lives in Canada pick me up some to try.

Re: Potato chips and other snacks - reviewed

I don't think any primarily sweet chip can ever be better than a savory chip - just the idea of a desert potato chip grosses me out.

Although, Trader Joe's does have these chocolate covered kettle chips, and they're amazing, though they're equally sweet and savory.

Yup, all "exclusive" to Canada, for now I guess.

I set out to find the Tzatziki, but it wasn't at my local store. I'll have to keep looking. My expectations are low, but I love real tzatziki so who knows.

I should buy a few boxes of each and mail out bags to all you Americans. I won't because I'd forget or something, but I should.

What the hell is Tzatziki? What the hell is Poutine? I'm starting to think I may not be as cultured as I thought I was.

Interesting, there is a greek restaurant in my town, I wonder if they serve this. I wouldn't mind trying it.

That's a classy name for a mundane dish. Gravy on fries is quite popular in some places here in the States, never seen them served with cheese curds, though. So would you mind boxing up those new flavors and sending them to the American members of the board?

I'd be all over the Tzatziki flavor if they had those there. Been making it from scratch my whole life.

Super easy to make. Plain Greek yogurt, a bit of olive oil, lemon juice, small-diced cucumber, fresh dill, salt & pepper. Dip or spread on a sandwich.
