So..it's Labor Day...now what??

Labor Days seems to be the biggest non holiday / holiday we have. Just curious If and how all the otters celebrate it. I mean most of us have a long weekend right?

Myself; Cruefest Friday night and the rest of the weekend getting the kids ready for back to school

So, what is everyone else doing?

Watching Gustav on CNN, drinking beer, cleaning, playing video games, pretty much what I usually do on a regular day off. I have tomorrow off too

jon: Working on Labor day.....sucks sorry to hear it.

Element : tomorrow off too..awesome. Sadly my 4 days are up tonight and it is back to work tomorrow.

I am surprised no home improvement projects, or big barbecues...

Yeah, I have no idea what to do. Woke up and was just playing video games all morning. Going out to lunch with my girlfriend now, but no idea what else there is to do.

I celebrate it the same way I celebrate (nearly) every single day of the year: by working. Seriously, life in academia is grand. Don't ever let anyone tell you professors are overpaid (I worked over 90 hours last week).

Spent my labor day reflecting on those who came before me to make the workplace a better, safer and more productive environment:

The union creator, womens sufrage, the whistle blower, the blue collar, etc

just kidding..I watched movies like everyone else

I went hiking on rocks for an hour. Then ate food. Then went swimming for an hour or so. I am now home. It was a nice day to just kick it.

I wasn't working at my job, rather working around the house. Washing and waxing cars, and doing most of the stuff I put off doing during the rest of the summer.

If I was paid hourly I'd definitely try to work it...
Woke up, mowed the lawn, went to Walmart, had inlaws over to cookout, now helping my boy with his homework.
Played a few games, but nothing serious or really focused.

dtcarson: first mention of a cook out..

Crazy I really thought this day was more about home projects and cook-outs..

glad to hear it is more movies and house chores etc... and hanging out. Sure am glad to have it off.

I painted my bedroom, watched 3 episodes of The Wire S3, ate chocolate cake, went for a walk, then my cousin came over and we played Guitar hero for 2 hours.

All in all, I had a pretty good Labor Day day!

I unpacked boxes and hung stuff on the walls of the new house all day. Now I'm at work on zero sleep. 6am can't come soon enough.

Kinda appropiate to celebrate Labor Day by working a union job.

I woke up and watched a couple of movies. Then grilled up a couple of steaks. Played around on the computer some and watched another movie. All in all, a decent day off.
