What's the worst/dumbest thing you've ever spent money on?

I was cleaning out a closet preparing for a move and I found this, which I had bought probably...five years ago:

The Robosapien

I believe at the time I bought it discounted, but it still cost me $60 or so. We had a lot of parties at our apartment at the time and we thought it'd be fun during those. We moved it maybe twice during the time we had it and somehow, it's stuck around. Until now. I just threw it in the trash can. (Although it did make it into a bunch of 'after party pictures' with empty bottles and cans and people passed out on the floor)

That has to rank up there among the stupidest things I've ever bought, although while packing, I'm sure I'll come across a few others.

When I was younger, I once got roped into a magazine subscription scheme that required I pay monthly installments for years... there wasn't anything I could do since I signed the contract.

Time may tell... (as you never know...I may have a valuable collectible on my hands!)

A Billary silver coin.

It wasn't exactly cheap...it was pure silver.

I was counting on her becoming president so it would raise in value.

Dumb bitch.

I'm a very careful spender, though in the past I've bought a lot of clothes that got worn once, disliked, and forgotten about. I think most people do this though.

Unfortunately, far and away the dumbest thing I spend money brings me great, great happiness. I know nice people, so costs are lower than they could be - but spending anything on what ultimately amounts to little more than a few grams of dried plant matter is kind of frustrating.

A 720p/1080i 50" Sony Grand Wega for $2200 2 1/2 years ago.

Now I could get a 60"+ 1080p for that price.

A Movado watch for $800 years ago. It was a beautiful watch but I barely ever wore it. I wound up selling it to someone for $300 about 4 years ago.

Meh...mine was without the remote, and to be honest...I didn't even know if the thing worked. I've done so much selling on Amazon (old CD's/DVD's) lately, that I'm burnt out on that.

I haven't exactly thrown it away yet. My roommate and I decided it'd be funnier if we put a note in it's hands and put it at our friends door (they live in the same apt. complex) with a note in hand.

And regarding that Apple app...it's been pulled, but here's something funny for you from some poor iPhone user...

I know what he would post in this thread.

I love my Movado watch.

My last ex would be a front runner for dumbest thing I spent money on. In terms of an object...pick one of my budget ($150) DVD-R machines I purchased over the years. Not one of them lasted over a year. I gave up trying after awhile. Did they ever perfect these, or is it a dying format?

Funny cause a couple of years ago i was helping my Dad clean out his basement and found a black one in working order. I told him he should sell it instead of give in to Goodwill and he said I could have the money if I sold it. So I did and got $110 ob eBay for it. The guy who bought it ended up living about 60 miles away and wanted to pick it up immediately. He was an older guy I'm convinced he uses it for kiddie porn.

Okay, I don't really mean that. But I wanted to be the first to say it.

Anything over $100 goes through a cost to benefit ratio before I buy it.

Therefore, the only thing I can really think of are countless DVD/CD blind buys that ended up being terrible.
