What type of doctor should I see?

I had a stiff neck/upper lat for about a month that never went away totally. I pulled it at the gym.

Then one morning my entire right upper body was incredibly weak. I was used to do 65lb dumb bells and I couldnt lift 35lb bells with my right side! I went to a chiro and they helped my neck but my right side it is still aching/weak.

What type of doctor should I go see now? An orthopedic?

I would start with just a general physician.

your PCP.

you need 800mg of ibuprofen every 8 hours (anti-inflammatory), valium 5mg twice daily (muscle relaxant), and referral to PT.

Something like that happened to me a year or so ago. You may also need an MRI of the area, I ended up having "herniated discs" in my neck...but seriously get it checked! Especially if you are having weakness...not a good sign.

Start with your PCP; if the weakness persists, ask for a specialist.

while I will warn you...he will misdiagnose you several times, almost kill you but eventually figure out what it was and heal you.

a better chiro? one who doesn't just crack you but diagnoses you and offers long term solutions.

Obviously, you don't want to see a medical doctor. Try going to chiropracters, herbalists or a naturopath.

Not that I want to get into this discussion, but over the course of my life there have been several times when I hurt my back or hip. Shoveling in an 04 blizzard was one. After a trip to my chiro it felt 100% again. Whether or not you want to lump everyone in the profession together is your choice, but I'm a firm believer in them.

See your PCP and chiro, maybe need some PT... I would ice and ibuprofen, and read this: http://ditillo2.blogspot.com/2008/07...ill-starr.html regarding "muscle belly" injuries. Not exactly where your injury is but this "method" has save both my back and my shoulder after injuring them both.
