Know anyone famous personally, or someone that is?

Whether it be someone big or famous on a smaller scale, does anyone here know someone, or is friends with someone that falls into that categorie?

I've got 2.

Friend of mine is Matthew Lillards cousin

My wife's great, (great?) uncle was Bill Dickey who played for the Yankees.

My cousin was Marcus Garvey (Grandmother's side)

I grew up with two of the original members of A Tribe Called Quest....Jarobi (who used to come over to my house and play backgammon...he lived in the house behind me) and Phife (actual name is Malik) ....who lived up the street from me.

Good friends (to this day) with Big Juss from Company Flow...an underground rap group from the 1990's.

James Duval. Met him through a writer friend of mine and we hit it off. I don't hang out with the guy often at all, but I have his number for anytime I'm in L.A.

Also, my grandfather, who is a VERY small-time actor, knows a lot of the regualr mafia movie guys... Dominic Chianese, Tony Sirico, Chazz Palminteri and, vaguely, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. He even stayed at Pacino's house when he was in CA once. Pacino wasn't there, but he was with another one of his freinds or something.

"My mother's cousin actually went to school with Enya. They were two years apart, but they had the same percussion teacher."

Geoff Stults (of 7th Heaven and Wedding Crashers "fame") was my neighbor at Whittier College. Not close now, but did once take our dates to Outbreak (front row and sandwiched between a pair of gang members who kept screaming at the screen every time Morgan Freeman appeared).

I also know his brother George, who also appeared on 7th Heaven. (Also a Whittier grad.)

My uncle used to be friends with Larry Bird back in the 80's. He would come to my cousins birthday parties and stuff. But after a bar brawl involving my uncle and Larry, the Celtics management told Larry he couldnt associate with my uncle anymore. It made the news in Boston and my uncle is mentioned in a few biographies of Larry.

High school baseball coach was personal friends with Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon. I met them a few times at a couple of school functions and baseball fundraiser things.

My father knew Scott Glenn when they were kids, iirc. I swear I used to work next to a girl that is now a pretty well known porn star now named Allie Sin.

I have met several famous athletes but only know them in passing through friends and/or my family who live in the same neighborhood as several of them.

If anyone here is old enough to know the band Little Feat, I know most of the band members personally, and am known by the rest of them.

They had a contest like this on a local radio station - whoever got the most famous person to call in won $10,000 and the famous person won $5,000 for charity.

They ended up having so many famous people call in that they made it like a week, and had to debate who should win. It was called "Who do you know". The winner was Justin Timberlake, followed by his girlfriend Jessica Biel, Muhammad Ali, Sean Connery, Jimmy Carter, Ben Affleck, Morgan Freeman, Fran Drescher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bette Midler, Bo Bice, and other people I probably wasn't listening to hear.

My neighbor in college was Reggie Evans, who now plays for the Philadelphia 76ers. He used to ask me for rides at two in the morning to drive around as the bars let out so he could score some chicks . I figured I may get some ricochet gals out of it, but never happened...close once, but not quite. Not that famous, but all I got.

Yeah. I don't know the logic. I would have taken Ali and Carter as 1 and 2, but they didn't agree. Hell, I would have taken Sean Connery over Justin Timberlake (he's James friggen Bond). But, yeah, it's a Top 40 radio station that had to explain to people who Ali is.

- He's a famous Boxer
- Like George Foreman?
- Well, kinda, yeah I guess like George Foreman

The Atlanta radio situation is absolutely pathetic. There's 1 company that owns all of the radio stations (isn't that the case everywhere, now?) and they've been slowly changing the formats and eliminating all of the good radio stations. So now there are 12 radio stations that play "classic rock", 1 that plays Top 40, 3 that play "easy listening", 4 Spanish Language channels, and a bunch of rap. All of the Alternative stations (99x, the Buzz, etc.) are now gone.

A long-time family friend is an older gentleman from my hometown named Byron Bradfute. He was one of the original Dallas Cowboys back in 1960. I know a couple of small-time retired NFL'ers (Bruce Collie and Erik Howard) who live in the area, but just through job contacts.

I know myself. Just to talk to, you know, not like I have myself over for parties all the time.
