Then of course I would. As long as it was within the persons physical limits.

With so much emphasis on the actual physical appearance in the last thread, I thought it would be interesting to ask.....

Yes...however even though my bleeding heart liberal comments may suggest otherwise, if they were to deal with clients, I would probably think twice.

And that is not a matter of discrimination or anything like that. I hate to say it, but you are at the mercy of the clients. Clients want to see something a very specific way and if you don't come at and present that, they will go somewhere else.

If I were to hire someone who does my job (sit behind a desk away from the clients), then if they are qualified, this is a non-issue.

I've never hired any fat people. It's just coincidence.

As I said in the other thread, appearance matters, but attitude is king. Given equal qualifications, I'll hire the calm and friendly behemoth over the rebellious, sneering metal-faced inkdrone, and vice-versa.

I've hired overweight people and have worked with many overweight people. Some good, some bad - just like everyone else.

This question has to do with the company's cost of health insurance I am sure. Also there are studies that obese folks take more sick days etc. But that really isn't a issue if your Sick/Vacation came from one bank.

This question? Whose question? Minor Threat's question? I gather it's solely an extension of the discussion from the other thread and speaks to matters of appearance rather than costs associated with health issues.

BTW, I'm obese at 298 and I have almost 800 sick leave hours accrued, since I only take about 2 sick days per year, and those are to go for my physical or dental checkup.

Forbes Magazine indicated that women who were obese could not expect to get into upper management.

I'm obese as well (Biggest loser threads), and I also have maybe one sick day a year. But haven't there been studies where it shows that obese folks, generally tend to use more sick leave, and use more of the insurance?

There's "fat", and there's "Fat".

Some large people are still pleasant to be around, charming, outgoing, and would be great salespeople.

Other large people disturbing lumps.

So, the answer would be... maybe.

Someone obese to the point of physical disability is going to have limited options on what sort of work they can do.

I would not, because 1 it generally makes clients uncomfortable and two I think obese people are weak minded individuals. If were just talking a little overweight that's a different story. I'm talking about people with cankles.

How fat are we talkin here?
I would draw the line at 300+ lbs.
guess I can be a little sizest sometimes. Sorry, but I tend to get disgusted when I know someone has rolls.
