Mature, enlightened posts, Creekdipper-- all three. Thanks for contributing to this tribute thread. And sorry, but the only "troll" in this thread is you-- posting smileys and notifying Mods in a thread in which which you have no real interest other than to pass judgement.

And in keeping with discussing George Carlin's work, here's one of my favorite routines (and from the bottom of my heart, I certainly hope it doesn't offend anyone).

Quickly, Creekdipper, go notify a Mod! George Carlin said something evil! Booga Booga!

mod note - Both Dave7393 and creekdipper, I suggest that you both put each other on ignore. You can't seem to converse with each other without pissing on each other. If you keep this up, I'm not going to lock the thread, but there will be administrative action against both of you. Discuss the topic at hand, not each other.

well for those interested, tonight in like a minute or 2, the Mark Twain award that Carlin was supposed to recieve is airing on PBS tonight, with a bunch of comedians paying tribute to him

Re: George Carlin dead at the age of 71

the only thing that sucked about the special is that they edited the end and best part of the Advertising Lulliby routine "well actually, it means let me bend you over and stick this big advertising dick up your ass a little bit deeper"

He had some great routines back then. I much preferred his eariest stuff.

They were running a teaser for a Billy Cosby interview on Sirius, and BC said the only comic he ever took material from was George Carlin.

Yeah before he turned into a bitter, angry man railing against things in a non-humorous fashion.

His early work carried him for that last decade or so.

You know... like those 'footprints in the sand' posters.

Awe shucks. Every time I see this thread bumped, I think, "well, maybe he ISN'T dead". Like there's going to be an update on his condition at some point.

Dang.

If he did I never heard anything approaching Carlin's off handed, edgy brilliance.

Cosby was a funny guy but he was about as safe as they come.

I find his recent comedy pretty much unlistenable. His older stuff was genius.

Billy Cosby may have been a classmate of Bobby DeNiro.

Re: George Carlin dead at the age of 71

George Carlin recorded an all new comedy special entitled "I Kinda Like It When a Lotta People Die" on September 10th, 2001. It was shelved the next day, for reasons which should be obvious. 15 years later, it is finally being released. This Friday, September 16th, 2016, it will be made available on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms.
