I specifically remember having a fear of E.T. although I realize it was a kids movie when I was about five or six I just was really afraid of it. My sister had a fear of Chewbacca which i would torment her with by putting his picture on her desk.

I had a fear of lizards. I was just creeped out by them and how they did these weird push-ups. Not to mention the fidgeting detached tails, and looked like little alligators.

Also, Richard Ramirez " The Night Stalker ". That dude terrorized LA at the time while I was a kid. He murdered my aunt's grandparents, so it hit really close to home.

I would freak about two things

1. That Lake Michigan would overflow and I wasnt far enough away to keep from drowning.

2. End times

We lived next to a cornfield. I always worried zombies would come out of the corn at night and eat me.

As a child I had a fear of snakes rooted in a nightmare I experienced at age 5. I got over it in middle school and now live in a house with six of the little buggers. I was also afraid of the dark somewhat, though never to the point of needing a night light. I developed excellent night vision as I approached puberty and got over it as well. I had a short period of being afraid of the water (any water, even the water in the toilet) after watching Jaws for the first time, from the front row, at age 8.

As an adult I have only two fears, and they are somewhat related:

1. Any graphic depiction of brain injury makes me nauseous and uncomfortable to the point of turning away. Note that obvious Hollywood special effects aren't a problem, this is pretty specific to stuff on TLC or Discovery, and certain very well done and subtle film effects.

2. Being around and/or conversing with persons exhibiting clear signs of mental illness makes me very uncomfortable and may even trigger a fight-or-flight response.

I was like 3 or 4 when "Invasion of the Saucermen" came out, and I saw it with my older brothers.

These guys ^^^ were in it, and they had these needles that came out of their fingers and they stabbed people!! I literally had to wait in the lobby because that scared the flippin' bejeebus outta me!!

Obi-Wan Kenobi when he spoke to Luke after he died. I had a Star Wars read along book and cassette tape. Every time Obi-Wan spoke I would have to fast forward past the section.

Oh, and also Disney's Pete's Dragon, his voice scared me.

I had a fear of going into public restrooms after I saw Witness. In the movie there's a scene in a public restroom (trainstation, I think) where the kid witnesses a murder. From then on I feared I'd be alone in the restroom with murderers! Took me YEARS to get over that fear.

Yep and for me I'd have to add Bigfoot or any other similar beast peeking in the window.

Definitely Bigfoot. I grew up out in the country with lots of woods around, and as a kid I knew that even some ADULTS thought Bigfoot was real.
