Do you consider marijuana a drug?

I'm just wondering. Recently my grandmother was diagnosed with leukemia and was given prescription marijiuana to deal with the pain. She has these marijuana hard candies that she sucks on as well as a red bull type energy drink. I was at her place and she offered me one of the drinks, it was actually pretty good. But it got me to thinking about why marijuana is such a criminalized drug. I really didn't get any more buzzed than if I had a couple of beers.

I often wondered that too. I personally believe we should legalize it, tax it, and put the money back into the community.

But there are some dangers that come with that. Kids will need to educated on it for starters. Next, even though the buzz from it maybe as if you had a few beers, there is one problem, once your high your high. Were as when you drink, you get drunk, not become drunk instantly.

However to answer the question, I think it was because of religious groups.

Yes, it's a drug. That's pretty obvious. That question isn't really open to interpretation, unless you use some new wacky definition of what "drug" means.

If they had regulated and taxed it before spreading lies and sensationalizing it, it'd be legal now.

It's still ridiculous that cigarettes and alcohol are legal and marijuana isn't.

I believe Huey Lewis would define it is "one that won't spill".

It's definitely a drug. I have never bought into the logic that it's harmless.

a drug is anything that influences your mind from a sober state. yes, the ganj is a drug... yes, it should be legalized and govt controlled. the things like chronic, kush and all that other stuff is not controlled, so the power can vary.

I consider aspirin a drug. So of course it's a drug. Should it be illegal? That's a different question.

Yeah, that's my position, too. Both of those cause way more harm than marijuana ever could.

I guess if I were high, this would make more sense.

Yes.
Illegal (though I don't believe it should be)
Demonized (though I don't believe it should be)
Politicized (back in the day, and the stigma still holds)

Yes it's a drug. No, it's not as harmless as it's advocates would have you think. No, it's not as horrible and life ruining as it's opponents would have you think. Yes it should be legalized.

I kinda see it as a recreational intoxicant.

Yes it is a drug.

And to argue your scenario I would question why oxycodone, oxycontin and vicodin are drugs. I have had all of these before and I can take far more than the recommended dosage and they have very little effect on me.

Obviously every person has a different experience with all kinds of drugs.

Yeah, fat fingered that one too. Lousy keyboard.

But to continue the discussion, the government should really legalize a lot of these drugs...just to cut down on the violence. And also for treatment purposes.
