DVDtalk's Biggest Loser: June 2008

It's about that time.

A call out to those that were in the first few months, but haven't responded in May. You guys still with it? Some of you checked in, in May

Links to other months:

May 2008

April 2008

March 2008

February 2008

Janurary 2008

HW: 326
CW: 284 (as of 5/31/08)
GW: 226

My BMI was at around 43, its now around 39

Did some wii fit aerobics today, about 25 minutes worth, got a good sweat going. Ate my morning oatmeal, and a good lunch as well as dinner.

Sparkpeople - A great website with many good tools, to help track nutrition and fitness goals, lots of really good articles, and a very active community for support.

Original Weight: 276.5
Original BMI: 39.7

Last weigh in: 258.5

Current weight: 259

Not much loss, in fact a small gain. However, this week I was up to 263 at one point and was only able to make it out to the gym twice, so to get back to where I was is ok with me. My goal is to end June at 253.

I've been looking into WiiFit a little. Are you having good results with that superdeluxe or any other opinions on it?

I did not post in the early thread but I've been reading along and working on my weight as well. Had gotten up to 296 at a height of 6'1".. Sooo total fear of hitting 300 was the main motivation.

anyways.. Total goal is be under 200 by the end of the year.. I did hit my "start of summer" goal of being in the 250s and while 258 is higher then I wanted it's still "in the 250s" and it's better then gaining!

Hope everyone else is still hanging in there it just takes some time. It's a little disheartening to see the threads for each month get less and less posts as I fear many have given up..

I hope be into the 240s by the start of next month... That's not small or anything but it baby steps in the right direction..

Still here.

June 2: 169.6, 16.5% body fat.

The last few months have been terrible. I've been busy at work, got frustrated and stopped exercising, and went back to my old bad habits. I've been visiting "Five Guys" (big burgers and lots of fries) too often and drinking too much booze.

Its great so far, Really helps me with balance/posture. Which is a bonus. The Yoga poses/strength games are pretty intensive.

The Aerobics at first were not very tiring, but once you open the additional stages, you can get a work out (Like the Island run, and the free step).

I also like how it tracks your BMI.

Posted this in the last thread the other day:

When I started (about 10-12 weeks ago) I was at 187lbs... last week I was at 173lbs, and I'm sure some of the weight is muscle because I can really feel it in my stomach, which has gotten much tighter, as well as my arms.

Check out some before and after photos. No sucking in of the stomach either!

I'm on the IWantSixPackAbs routine, by the way. No six pack abs yet, because I'm sure I haven't been pushing myself as much as I should. I don't mind if the results take longer than he stated... I'll probably just do the routine again when I finish the 16 weeks.

I think I'm going to join in.. I started going back to the gym on a daily basis and have changed my diet quite a bit. I started on Monday, so I'm not going to get ahead of myself. I'll check back in at the end of the month.

Not sure of BMI, but my weigh in was 265. Shooting for a decent dropoff by the end of the month.

I think I'm down to 175 or something. Not really sure, I stopped consistently weighing myself a while ago. When I started this last year, I was pushing 240. Weight loss isn't my goal any longer.

to all of you. DeadLamb, losing 40 lbs. is amazing, keep it up. CK, great progress.

I'll repost the sites that I've used in the past to help with fitness:

www.iwantsixpackabs.com - free with registration, specific core exercises
www.exrx.net - free, specific weight training exercises
www.crossfit.com - free, "advanced" exercises (stuff to do once you've got the basics down and start to get bored, no specific strength is needed for many of these)

I've been trying to cut fat for the past few weeks and the next month leading into a vacation I'm taking where I'll be at the beach for almost two weeks. Want to look my best.

Congrats! and congrats to everyone else as well.

I'm with you TB. I'm 6'2" and down to 178 from at least 211 in mid-January and probably 220 between Thanksgiving & Christmas. I don't need to lose any more weight.

Waist is down from 39 to 33, BP in early Feb was pretty high (~150/100) and last time was 120/80. Resting HR went from 86 to 60. Cholesterol in early April was 200 (LDL was high, HDL was low) but that was early on in the nutrition & exercise regimen - I get it tested again in July.

I had somewhat slacked off exercising (from 6 days a week to 3) the past 5 or 6 weeks because of health problems with a family member and no time.

Now I just have to figure out the delicate art of continuing to burn fat while not losing weight. No matter what I do I can't get under 50% carbs - and I know I have to if I expect to ever see my abs..

Phew, finally. My goal was to hit 175 (from a start of 195) by April 5 but it ended up taking me an additional two months. There's plenty of excuses I could use (I got laid off, traveled, got a new job, blah blah) but I won't because at the end of the day I stuck with it and hit my target. Even when the scale wasn't going down people were telling me I was looking better and I can definitely see how my body has changed. Hell I've moved two notches on my belt and I fit into medium shirts.

I'm not sure what my next goal is, probably 168 since that will be 90lbs from where I was when I started my transformation some time ago.

Keep up the hard work everyone, even when/if you hit those hard times stick with the program, get right back on the proverbial horse, and you'll get there in time. Best of luck.

...

I'm still around, but no longer tyring to cut fat. According to a caliper measure, I ultimately got down to about 7.5% body fat. I was hoping at that point to have a sixpack, but it really didn't show very well. After dropping all the weight, I've got some loose skin that kills the effect.

Now I'm trying to add some muscle, so I'm hitting the weights and eating a lot more. Eating more is easy - doing it "cleanly" is a bit of a challenge though. The quantity of food you can eat in a day is pretty amazing when it's all good for you! My current goal is to add 10-15 lbs of muscle and stay under (hopefully well under) 10% body fat.

Doing well on my short term goal to get to 253 by the end of June. In fact, so well I am going to modify it slightly. My new goal is 250 by 7/4. Gives me a couple extra days and should be pretty easy to do if I keep at it.
