My job can be like that at times. Lotsa waiting for things to play, record, rip in, start, and etc. Thank gawd for the Plasma screens, Sat TV with all the channels, and internet in my room.

My buddy works at a plant that makes chemicals or something like that and he has times when they have to wait for things to happen.

I worked night shift as a 911 operator for a couple of years. There was a lot of sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. The problem is that you have to be really alert as soon as you pick up the phone.

Organ Donor or Scientific Cadaver.

Waiting to become a cadaver and doing your part for science is kinda like a job, isn't it?

Very true....I haven't worked the swing shift, but the night shifts tend to be pretty darn quiet after 9pm or so. Thank you medication!

My job is kind of like that (clearing truck shipments through US Customs). It's a bit of feast or famine, some nights (especially Fridays), I get slammed with shipments for a few hours straight, but there are plenty of times where I'm sitting there with nothing to do. Thank god for the internet.

Before he retired, my dad used to have job at a chemical plant that was pretty easy. Most of the time, he could sleep or watch TV, but if there was ever an emergency (very rare), he had a lot of responsibilities.

Central Station Operator for an Alarm Company. I did that for a few years back in the 80's. One of the companies I worked at, all we did was watch TV for the full 8 hours. The alarms we monitored (business and residences), hardly ever went off. Pretty boring...I like to stay busy so the 8 hours go by fast!

Mine is like that some times. I work night shift and for example, last night I went home for two hours, downloaded some porn for a co-worker and came back. Stood around for about three hours and then went back home.

My job...I wait for clients to do something stupid then I fix it. Or I wait for a co-worker to do something stupid, I laugh at them, then I fix it.
