Sounds to me like a knife being sharpened.

It could be someone running their fingers on an antenna

I think the knife is too obvious and it doesn't sound quite right. There is too much "grit" in the noise and it's a different pitch I think.

My guess is a zipper being opened or closed fast. Like the zipper on a tent door or a sleeping bag zipper. Maybe a small zipper with fine teeth like on a purse or lunch cooler or something?

Oh!! I think I have it!!! You mentioned this and for some reason it popped into my head. I bet this is it...ready??

It's someone curling the ribbon on a balloon or on a present. You know how you have the 1/4" ribbon with the little ripples on it and you take a pair of scissors, hold it against the ribbon, and then you run it up the ribbon to make it curl? I'm 100% behind this answer.

Jeeden...I was talking about that to a coworker this morning and that was one of the answers we came up wiht...I do agree wiht you on that one that it "could" be correct... i like it though....if they just repeated the same sound three times otherwise it would be hard to curl it that fast three times...but they dont sound the same...anyway..reagrdless it is a good answer...ill try it.

Fourthed. But that's too easy, so it must be something else.

What are the details of this contest anyway?
