Wow. How was he getting across the pipes? Just balancing? That is nuts.

Makes Half Dome seem like a downhill walk in the park.

Others seem to have been clipping into the safety line, but it was unclear if the videoographer was. I never noticed him stopping to unclip/clip as would be necessary.

I have never had a video trigger my fear of heights like this one did. I had to hold onto my desk! Freakin' amazing!

Great video. This is up there with that "bird suit" base jumping video.

Gotta agree that this made me feel real uneasy. I also wish I would have known about this when I was last in Spain. I definitely want to make an effort to take this hike.

The unique location and disrepair of the walkway make it look like something out of a surrealist painting.

I yelled "What the fuck!?!" at least a few times. I could probably do it (saying this here from the safety of my chair) but once I saw the open gaps with the pipes... nah, man. No way.

I wouldn't even trust those pipes (forget the height!). Did you see how rusty they looked?

Anybody else feel like that guy was a real life vide of Half Life 2?

I was thinking the same thing... looked like some of those levels FPSs put you through.

As far as walking across the pipes I'm even more amazed that he did it while taping/distracted by the camera

What a coincidence, I was just watching this video last night. Chasm is a cool flash game based on the trail as well. Someone posted it in the random video thread a few weeks ago.

Also, the similar Mt Huashan:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/keXJwQtM6c0&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/keXJwQtM6c0&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ke4-cwNvDuE&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ke4-cwNvDuE&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Is equally terrifying.

Oh, and that guy is dead. He died "climbing" (rather, falling) in Yosemite about 10 years ago.

I was cool with it until the balance beam towards the end. It was dry, the wind was low, and the footing was good. There was generally a cable you could grab if you felt wobbly. But I don't know if I could do four steps on a beam without a wall by my hand.

You have heard of a helmet cam, haven't you?

I'm always amazed at how stuff circulates on the web. I saw this last week, and now it's obviously making the rounds.

I love hiking and stood a few inches from a 3000 feet drop cliff in Yosemite but that is fucking insane. I wouldn't do it.

No way, not gonna do it. The speed he was moving was shocking because I think I would of maybe taken a step every minute or so.

Maybe... the shadows right around the 1min mark make it seem more like he's holding something than it being something on his head. I certainly could be wrong though.

So it circulated to you, but you're amazed that it also circulated to someone else?

Jesus H. Christ - I can't even watch that crap on a computer without freaking out. I do not see how someone could do that.

There was another video posted in the random video thread where these kids were hanging from a construction crane and doing pull-ups, etc... That one gave me nightmares for a week. I shudder to even think about it.

Yeah, I read the Outside article a few years ago on him. A complete idiot (especially since he had kids), but one hell of a cliber. I like the part where he jumps off the rock.

I'm amazed that something makes the rounds. When you see a video posted on a ski forum, and later that day on a DVD forum, it just kind of surprises me how "viral" the net is.
