"Credit-Report-Dot-Com, Baby!"

I can't get away from that damn jingle! On my drive to work, they play it during commercial breaks on XM166 (Wall Street Journal This Morning). At the office, there's a TV in the breakroom that's usually on CNN or Fox News, and it's close enough to my cube that I can clearly hear it when the commercial comes on. Hell, people around my workplace SING it when they hear it. Drive home - yup. At home, kid watching Spongebob - yup!

So I give in. Let's all sing....

I was lookin' for a new car, but which one's me?
A cool con-vert-i-ble or an S-U-V?

Sheesh, kenbuzz - how many "Credit-Report-Dot-Com, Baby!" threads do we need...

Seriously, is there a verse in the jingle that refers to a hot tub. Now that would be ironic.

Close, that's the other commerical for the same product...

"They say a man should always dress for the job he wants,
So why'm I dressed-up like a pirate in this rest-au-raunt?"

Yes! That's right. I didn't notice the YouTube video on the first post.

These are catchy though. The old commercials had that red-haired businessman..

"I'm thinking of a number. It's 720. What is it? My credit score!"

Speaking of dumb commercials, did anyone else notice they replaced the old man in the J.G. Wentworth commercials? I'm pissed!

I think that guy is pretty cute.

I like the one with this line:

Too bad I didn't know my credit was whack, cause now I'm driving off the lot in a used sub-compact . F-R-E-E that spells "free" credit report.com, baby

They lie about the credit report being "free." The tiny print says you have to enroll in something called "Triple Advantage."

IT'S MY MONEY, AND I NEED IT NOW!!!

I would love to see a commercial that shows the reactions to the people shouting.

So about those commercials...

a) What would knowing his credit score have done for the guy whose credit wasn't good enough for a "cool convertible or an SUV", and ended up in a "used subcompact"?

b) What about having his identity stolen would force the guy into working at a fish restaurant? I mean, sure it's a pain in the ass, and there's going to be money problems regardless, but why'd he have to take that job?

The fact that you've put serious thought into this has really brightened my day.

Something about having bad credit affects your ability to get a decent job.

a) If he knew his credit score, he could have waited a few months to build up a bigger downpayment. Alternatively, he might have had decent credit but by not knowing it, the dealer swindled him.

b) If his ID was just stolen, he probably can't get any credit, so he has to pay for everything cash. Plus, his CC rate (if he has one) may have jumped. Those combined may lead to a need for more spending cash via a second job.

I read an article that said the guy "singing" in the commercial is actually lip syncing and he speaks little English. And yes, this website is a rip off. It's run by Experian and they're trying to make some $$$ off of you.

It's free once you pay for it dummy. Sheesh!

Once you've given them the money, you don't have to pay for it anymore and isn't that great?!

I love this commercial better:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YWnUmpQhiOw&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YWnUmpQhiOw&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I actually am a customer of this service. In today's wired world, it's almost a necessary thing to have. Also nice to have someone monitor these things for me 24-7.

That guy looks like he can speak English. That's a little surprising.
