I think it's fairly obvious what caused the recent hysteria. Several threads were locked/altered and the reason given was that they didn't jibe with IB's 'family friendly' direction. That creates an entirely different perception than if the same actions were taken with the explanation simply being that certain posts/threads were in violation of the forum rules. And really, initially, it didn't make sense to say nothing had changed when the reasons being given pretty much amounted to 'things have changed.' I expect things like locking dave's dirty joke thread would've still generated some discussion if the explanation hadn't mentioned IB, but it wouldn't have created the sense that the new owners, who are complete outsiders, were going to be taking a more hands on approach and fucking the place up.
I agree that the newly refined rules don't really alter this place by much, if anything. But, I'm guessing the majority of people complaining are much more worried that IB will take a harder stance in the future and we'll be forced to keep discussions at a PG-13 or PG level. That would severely impact the sense of community here and change the nature of conversations in most of the forums. Personally, I'm glad that even the appearance of changes causes such a blow-up, as it ought to give IB pause in instigating anything that would dramatically affect the place.

Does just hiding something in the tag keep it from loading? I think it just keeps it from being visible.
There's no time lag when you press a spoiler button as there would be if it were retrieving content.
I just looked at the source of a page with the NSFW tag. The content in the tag was there even though I hadn't pressed the button.

No, it still load even though it's not visible. Which is why I keep reporting posts with spoilered nudity in them, but it seems that those posts still stay.

Why is the picture used in the "Tierney Gearon: The Mother Project" review allowed? Over the past year that review has consistently stayed on the top ten most popular reviews list, so IB must be aware of it.
