Otter Farm's Stupid Pet Tricks!

Hey, Kids! It's time for a new pet thread! Some people have pets for companionship, some for protection, or breeding, or whatever - but every pet does something special or cute or funny, right? So, what does your pet do? Tell us about something you've trained your pet to do or just something that it does that amuses you.

My German Shepherd loves fetching, so it was easy to train him to go out in the morning and get the paper off the driveway (except Sunday - too heavy).

He also will put all his toys away in the toybox - one at a time though, with coaching. He'll bring a named toy to me too.

If you point your finger at him like a gun and say "hands up!" he'll sit up and raise his paws - then you say "bang!" and he falls over.

He also will entertain himself by using a ring toy to fling a tennis ball so he can chase it. I love watching him do that - one of those things I never tire of.

So, what does your pet do?

My fish jump of a tank without being told to! And my corals fight with each other during the night. Not my dog, but this video is pretty cool.

My cat and dog do a cute pairs trick, in which the cat puts its nose up in the air and the dog balances on it using only one foot. It's a hit at dinner parties but they never do it for the cameras.

My pet frog can sing and dance but he never seems to do it in front of anyone else.

One of our cats fetches teeny beanie babies (the ones from McDonald's years back) that she has scattered throughout the house and brings them to us while doing a really neat and loud call. I have been known to answer her at night while half asleep telling her what a good cat she is.

Orion can climb about 6 feet up a wall when chasing the laser light. Meesha, RIP, could open up doors and drawers. I would find her in my jammie drawer all the time.

I have an old shoe lace that my cat has claimed as her own. She drags the string into whatever room we are in yelping the whole time. It does get a little annoying when you're trying to go to sleep and a cat is howling with a string in its mouth.

Our neighbor's cat comes here and demands food. Once she's been fed, she leaves.

Our dog was blind. He would go into his toy basket and pull out whichever toy you told him to. He knew them by name (and apparently by smell). Even though a couple of them were the same but different in color.

I miss him so much! RIP Joey.

The wifey and I took in a relative's Italian Greyhound because they were moving out of state. We took him to the vet immediately to have the boys lopped off. From that point forward, he always checked his package with a quick glance and nose nudge after jumping down from a couch, chair, bed, lap, etc.

The dog now lives across the street from us because the little one unfortunately has a pet dander allergy. He gets very excited when I visit him, and still checks his junk every time he jumps down from my lap. I don't know if he's worried that the sack will be missing or if he's hoping the boys will magically reappear.
