why do people still fall for those stupid chain emails???

seriously do people actually believe that "forwarding this email to 9 people will bring you good luck but if you dont, you die!!!" crap?

really? people actually believe that?

do people actually believe that a guy forwarded the email and 3 days later won the lottery? i mean, really?! comeon...

i guess if people will believe nigerian business men, they will believe this.

(sorry just venting)

Chain letters were around long before email, and their longevity is easy to understand. Very low risk, and a very easy task with the potential of a huge payout.

Because most people are lemmings.

They want to be told how to live their lives or what will happen to them if they don't follow certain rules etc. It is the uncertainty of the future that drives some people to gather comfort from a relatively small and harmless action.

Yeah, I just signed on for his new email tracking program, too! Apparently, it's something he's been working on with the CEO of Applebees.

As soon as I read, "send this to x people" I delete it.

My mother and a few of my friends send them to me all the time. It's so ridiculous.

There are real life stories in the very letter about people who didn't forward it, and misfortune struck them down. I know the first time I got a chain letter, I was a little frightened when I broke the chain. I was about nine.

I guess these are the same people who fall for spam emails. I mean, people actually send those out because SOMEBODY falls for them, right?

I didn't forward a chain email in September 2004, and I hit a deer last week with my new car. I now forward all chain emails.

Meh, I just delete them. At least I know the sender is still alive without actually having to make real contact.

What I hate is when I get the crappy ass chain letter from somebody in my family more than ONCE.

I seem to recall when I was a kid my mom REALLY despising chain letters (real chain letters that you got via the post.) She'd never forward them on. Now, in the email world, she's constantly hitting that FORWARD button on her email program. And I get all kinds of crap. I have gotten to the point now if I see FW on the email's subject line, I am deleting it without looking at it.

I just got one yesterday for the second time. Apparently salvation and going to Heaven with Jesus isn't dependent on accepting His work on the cross or any BS like that...it's forwarding an email about Jesus to the next ten people that shows you REALLY love Jesus.

Somehow I think that if you forward that on to the next ten people, you really show you are willing to take His name in vain.

The degree of stupidity of a chain email is directly proportional to the degree of stupidity of the forwarding party...

When phrased that way, the question answers itself.

He speaks the truth! I failed to forward a chain letter in 1984 and died a week later.
