avenue q - worth seeing?

anyone seen this? it is a good show? seems like it could be very funny but also the potential to be corny and lame.

I saw it recently when it came to Philly and really enjoyed it. You should be able to tell from the high-level description whether you'll like it or not: raunchy, puppet-based musical about life after college.

I LOVED it. Highly recommended.

I am very finicky about Broadway shows and I was a little skeptical but it was great.

It felt like the Muppets if they were in the real world talking about real things.

I don't want to give away too much but with characters like "Lucy the Slut" and "Porn Monster" how could it be bad?

I was even sitting next to someone wearing Patchuly and I still loved it.

My wife and I loved the play, and loved the soundtrack as well.

Hard to say. Basically, if you like South Park, you'll probably enjoy it. I laughed throughout the whole show.

If you find South Park unfunny and/or offensive, stay far away - this isn't for you.

I'm still kickin' myself for missing the touring production of the show when it was at the National here in DC...

I'm glad to see the good reviews. My wife and I have tickets to see this here in Portland in June. We weren't quite sure what to expect.

We saw Sweeney Todd (the play) a couple of weeks ago, and it absolutely sucked. Hated it. Left at the intermission.

Definitely see it!

I went last summer on my last night in New York and loved it. I bought the soundtrack as well and enjoy that as well.

I went on a recommendation and thought it was one of the better ones I'd received.

Was it the recent revival production, where all the actors double as instrumentalists? Because if that's the case, I can understand hating it. I love the show normally, but I was somewhat ambivalent towards the recent revival - and I imagine it wouldn't work very well at all for anyone that wasn't already familiar with the material.

Anyways - as for the OP's original question, I've been listening to the soundtrack to "Avenue Q" for several years and I absolutely love it. I still haven't seen the show, but if the overall production is nearly as good as the music (and I've heard it is,) then it should be pretty damned good. And very funny. And quite dirty.

Awesome show. Saw it in Vegas a few years back and then last summer it was in Toronto - went to see it again and then the next week they were selling some seats for FREE (you had to pay $5 handling), so I saw it a third time! Hilarious.

Re: avenue q - worth seeing?

I finally saw it over at the Warners and I really enjoyed it, mind you I knew all the words, seeing the puppetry though and off the wall humour made the theatrical experience funnier. One couple was so disgusted with the sex scene between the two puppets they promptly got up and left, jeesh, you're that offended... come on?!
