Random Gmail Ads

Most people probably know that gmail serves up context based ads. This can lead to some curious ads based on what google thinks it knows about you.

I send some friends an email today mentioning earth day so I guess google thinks I'm a hippy. I got ads for: 100% bamboo menstrual pads.

What have yall gotten?

Hippie? Sounds like Google has deduced (correctly, I might add) that you are a lady panda.

I sometimes sign my e-mails with MLM (my initials) and a friend of mine says he gets ads for multi-level marketing services when opening e-mails from me.

Why does Gmail know the content of an email? I sent one to a couple of friends this weekend ragging on Ron Santo's radio skills, immediately I was prompted to purchase Cubs merchandise...what gives? Is it the actual content or the title of the email?

Is that why there are so many "how to lose your virginity for men" book adds in the "GI JOE vs Cobra" thread?
