Look who was on my street today...

Slick Willie showed up in our booming metropolis of 5,667 people today (Arnold, Pa.).

He probably didn't wipe off his shoes when he left, he probably just threw them away, lol. He was here 'visiting a friend' and gave a speech, shook some hands, etc... We grabbed a shitload of pics and took some video too. Pretty cool experience.

I met Bill Clinton at a Hilary rally in Cleveland. In the pic that I took with him, the same Secret Service member was in the shot!!!! I think he looks like Steve Carrell!

Regardless of agreeing with policy or disliking him as a person, I would love to meet any (former) president.

Agreed, but Bill is #1 for me, not because I agreed with him or thought he was a great prez, but he seems like a heck of a guy to talk with. Friends of mine have met him and spoken with him, and they said he is absolutely engaging and can talk about anything.

Agree with bhk and Ped - regardless on whether or not I agree with a President's views/policies, I would be honored to meet any US President.

Same here! It'd be fascinating to have just a 10 minute conversation with them.

This really was a bizarre encounter. The population for my city, Arnold, Pa. is 5,667. Talk about 'anytown USA', our big attraction is a Dairy Queen. He actually came through the alley, into this guy's backyard, and out his front door to speak. The police say that the guy is a 'friend' of the Clinton's. Here's another pic:

Say what you want but if he could have been in office for a 3rd or even 4th term, we probably wouldn't be in the crisis we are in now. (Off my soapbox, now!)

"Friend" = "wrote a nice big contribution check".

Before they retired, my parents were both in a line of work where they met countless politicians, candidates, and their wives and families (my mother has a funny story about volunteering to get more toilet paper for Lady Bird Johnson during a press junket around the NW ). The general behind-the-scenes impression of Clinton seems to be that he really is a personable, interesting fellow, so I'd love to have a conversation with him, if the opportunity arose.

For most of the US Presidents who have been alive during my lifetime, though... I'd be kind of "meh". I think it would matter how much I respected their presidency and their legacy, for me to go to any trouble (I've probably met too many politicians myself ).

The only former President that would really wow me would be Jimmy Carter. My mother met his wife a few times after he left office, and the last time, I asked my mother to tell Mrs. Carter that her husband had been an inspiration to me. Meeting him would be an honor.

Shouldn't this be combined with the "White Noise Machine" thread?

Hey now, guys... we all know that comments referencing both Clinton and "The Office" are just going to lead to blue dress jokes, and we don't need that around here.
