You know...

Those things that appear to defy time & space & even SCIENCE!!!

(...if that were possible! )

I'm talking about inventions that must have come from another planet!

I'd say (to start this thing off)...

Velcro

That really tough plastic they pack stuff in (that you have to use a hammer, chisel, and razor blade to break through)

Microfiber towels (Now THAT'S one for the science books!)

Mylar (Like they use for those really cool balloons)

...and...

That new cellophane they use on candy wrappers to name only a few.

CD's. The jump from cassettes to CD was probably one of the more extreme technology shifts I can think of.

Actually, the jump was from vinyl to CDs. No one who was serious about music ever touched a cassette.
