GreenZap strikes again.

I posted this for the benefit of my friends who I had sign up for it when I was young and naive and couldn't identify a pyramid scam. Since I posted it I've had several anonymous comments on my post by people who googled the information on the check and had the same problem.

In case anyone here fell for the GreenZap trap, here's my original post.

If I was a customer of GreenZap, I would promptly delete/change any account numbers they would have access to.

The scammiest part of the scam is that I am fairly certain I didn't give them any account numbers at all.

Apparently it's run by a professional scammer with a track record of a lot of other business names.

Here's the search results at Ripoff Report

Well, after reading the links posted, I see several incidents where the person has admitted they did sign up with this company and either "forgot" they gave them their bank account info, or some other reason.

I'm not sure how a company could just obtain your bank account info and start withdrawing money. Maybe they purchased a list from a rogue employee or dumpster diver I suppose, but most of the stories I see point to a transaction with this company initially--then several months later, BAM, they're charged.

Well, I'm not saying I didn't sign up with GreenZap, but that doesn't require you to give them your banking information. I'm not even positive I had a bank account in 2004 (that's right, they waited four years to do this).
