Yet another "curb your spawn" thread ...

Over the weekend I went to my favorite restaurant with a good friend. During the visit, I found it necessary to use the ladies' room.

When I went in there, two of the stalls had kids in them with Mommy. After I had gone into the third stall, one of the mommies let kidlet go out to wash her hands and wait while Mommy finished up.

So what does the kid do? She walks over to my stall and starts PEERING IN BETWEEN THE WALLS so she can watch me pee.

When Mommy comes out to wash her own hands, kidlet is still standing there and I'm sitting on the throne, if you'll forgive the expression, PISSED OFF.

So I sort of politely ask Mommy to mind her kid, and she gives this exasperated-sounding sigh and says, "Come here, Ashlee Nicole Taylor Megan Fartbritches" or whatever stupid name kidlet bears, and "that lady's being silly."

The only thing that kept me from going out and punching her one was my inherent ladylike demeanor. Well, and the fact that I was still peeing.

Those of you in this world who are parents to crotch spawn like this are NOT helping me see your side of it very well.

So someone, somewhere, is in someway doing a half-assed job of raising their kids? Well, that's all the justification I need to realize my ambition of eventually dying alone buried under a mound of Ding Dong wrappers and cat hair!

You're cranky today. I bet your kids kept you up last night.

My eldest did this once and only once because after he did it, I explained to him how very wrong it was and made him apologize to the lady. I'm such a mean mom.

You could've made a really scary/angry face at her, or done some other terrifying but quiet (and non-contact) thing to the kid (be creative).

Hell, I'm a parent and that's what I would've done. There's no excuse to let your kid do that. It's basic bathroom manners kids should pretty much have figured out by age three (if not, the parents should keep a close eye on them in public during these situations, which this parent obviously wasn't doing).

Are you sure the sign from the mother wasn't because the little kid was doing it, rather than because you had the nerve to ask her to get her kid?

So are you just upset because the kid didn't pay you for the show?

She said, and I quote, "that lady's being silly." She acted like I was in the wrong.

For the record, what I said to her was, "Could you please ask your child to move away from my door?"

Unlock the door and give it a hard kick. That'll learn 'em.

Then the mother likely assumed you were just one on the anti-kid crowd. If she thought her kid was just standing there innocently, your request would have seemed a bit ridiculous in her mind.

Mayhap the next time you find yourself in the same situation you should say, "Could you please ask your child to stop watching me pee?"

I would have told the Mom to get her little shitbag in order. I remember one time I was eating some Mexican food at this place on the way to my place. As I was sitting there at the table eating, some dirty lady came in with her kids, begging for money. One of the kids came up to me where I was eating and sat at my table, and started talking to me, asking if I had any change. I politely told him I did not, and he left, but then the other kid came over, and asked my also. At this point, I turn to see where the Mom is, and she is on the other side of the restaurant, not even paying attention. Mind you, there kids are probably around 4, and 7, and the Mom is not even looking at them. I was nice to the kids, because it's not their fault, but once the Mom got near, I asked her if she could please watch her kids, and she got all offended, and huffy. I don't even know how she had custody. If you are that poor, and can't afford your kids, then someone should step in, and give them a better life. Maybe that way, they won't turn out like her.

You should have shared with the child the humiliating true story of a real-life stall peeker....

Spoiler:

"That's right, and the policeman took him away!"

I saw a sign in an espresso/candy shop recently that was my favorite of this kind so far, it was something like:

"Unattended children will be fed several espressos and great amounts of sugary candy, then set loose outside"

Unlock the door, grab some TP, then reach out to the stupid kid, and ask if the kid can wipe for you. They won't do it again. Unless they're destined to be Larry Craig or something.
