Patrick Swayze dying from pancreatic cancer- weeks left to live

I heard this on the radio this morning. Sad news. Don't see much about it on the web yet.

Pancreatic Cancer Hits Patrick Swayze: 5 Weeks to Live
Posted in: Health cancer cancer diagnosis pancreatic cancer

Patrick Swayze was reportedly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late January. New reports allege that the cancer has spread to other organs and doctors have given his only 5 more weeks to live.

The 55-year-old actor has allegedly been undergoing radical chemotherapy at Stanford University’s cancer center but the treatments are no longer affective. “He was told he could have two more treatments, but his cancer was not responding. In short – they held out little hope for a cure,” said a source. “It’s time to start praying for a miracle.”

Insiders say Patrick Swayze, who is married to Lisa Niemi, has lost weight because he is on a liquid only diet as he cannot keep solid food down due to cancer.

isn't trans world some shock tabloid company? i'd at least think they'd know the difference between effective and affective.

My best friend died from Pancreatic cancer, and I learned a lot about it that summer. If Swayze has it, there's little chance of survival.

That is sad.

I saw him on Oprah not too long ago and he did look rather thin, but I didn't think anything at the time.

I think we need a better source than the National Enquirer before we pour our hearts out.

I wonder if he'll come back and haunt Whoopi Goldberg?

On a serious note - I never got the opportunity to meet him while I worked in Hollywood but I talked to several people that had and they said he was a very friendly guy. Not snobbish or stuck up- but rather shy and humble. If this story is true is is certainly sad news.

Hold out hope as apparently he's been working on a Pilot for A&E:

http://www.tvweek.com/news/2008/02/c...ed_for_end.php
The four-hour miniseries “The Andromeda Strain” is ready to air in late spring or early summer. The network is set to make green-light decisions on several shows that were developed early last year and have already been made into pilots: “The Cleaner” starring Benjamin Bratt, “The Beast” starring Patrick Swayze and “Under” starring Henry Thomas.
Also isn't 5 weeks left to live, a little too specific? Weeks to live, a few months, 6 months, all of these are reasonable estimates from doctors, but 5 weeks? Would it have been too obvious if they said he had 39 days to live?

You realize they made a Direct to Video sequel for Roadhouse sans Swayze, don't you?

That's weak though. If we get enough signatures on my online petition, we can get the real deal.

Yes, but many of them are citing the National Enquirer as their source.

I was just about to "google news" this and find out more, but there you go. Wow, this realliy surprised me. I usually don't get scooped on news by DVDTalk.

It seems that the "five weeks" quote ultimately came from The Enquiirer, but if he does have pancreatic cancer, he probably doesn't have much more time that that. My GF's mom in high school died of pancreatic cancer, and it only took a few months after diagnosis until she passed. I've heard many similar stories of others with this disease. Very sad if true. Or it could be complete BS, given the source.

C'mon Patrick -- go Dalton on this cancer and rip its freakin' throat out!

The prob with pancreatic cancer is that once it is found it is already in its terminal stage. A family friend lost her fight against it a few years ago. Very sad if this is true for Patrick.

That's horrible. Treesa and I feel so bad for him and his family.

We are asking for a miracle and that his pain be reduced but sometimes the ultimate healing may come in the form of total release from the venerable 'husk' we reside in.

Good Grief.

Yet another example to show me & Tree that what ever problems or challenges we are presently facing simply don't amount to a hill of beans in the scheme of things...
