Interesting Star Trek photo

Nerd alert! Just when I thought I'd seen all the star trek promotional photos along comes one I hadn't seen. Who's the actor the 3rd from the left? I found the answer but it took a while.

It does look a lot like Jeffrey Hunter, but what would he be doing as a general crewmember?

What kind of posture is that? Don't they go through basic in Starfleet?

A better question is why that banished that one dude far out of the framing of the picture.

Although, that might just be courtesy space for the unholy hellfart he is about to unleash into the "final frontier".

Not Jeffrey Hunter (Although that's who I thought it was at first), not Desi Arnaz Sr. or Jr. (good guess though considering it was filmed at Desilu), not Walter Koenig (Although the source I got the photo from identified the actor as him. Wrong.)

Why does the bridge look different? Isn't there usually just a captain's chair and not that podium where they are all standing?

I woud have guesses jeffrey Hunter too. Is it the guy in the very first or second episode ("where no man has gone before" I beleive) that gets almost god like powers and hangs around with the hot blond crewman before he dies at the end of the episode?

Just checked Gary Lockwood who played Lt Gary Mitchell. Looks like him a bit but hard to tell in that photo.

Might it be Sean Kenney in character as Lt. DePaul? He portrayed Wheelchair Pike in The Menagerie.

I think you mean Gary Lockwood (who was also the "other" astronaut in 2001: A Space Odessey), but it doesn't look much like him to me...

I still think it's Nurse Chapel... It has the right cheekbones.

I found a description of the picture, but not the pic itself:

Special and rare official Paramount photograph from the pre-Chekov days on the original Star Trek series. Photograph includes the cast with Sean Kenney as bridge officer Lieutenant DePaul in the episode "Arena" with Kenney's AUTOGRAPHED. Kenney is the same actor who portrayed Captain Pike in the two-part episode, "The Menagerie." Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Color--8 X 10. $25.00

He's got a red shirt---he'll be a goner before the first commercial break.

I've never seen that photo before; Uhura, Kirk, and McCoy seem to be smiling, but everyone else appears to look very intense (check out Mr. Scott).

I'm sort of guessing that this will be a male-dominated thread?

Likely that's Eddie Paskey as the omnipresent Lt. Leslie.
