Has DVD Talk improved anyone else's spelling and grammar?

I'm not going to win any spelling contests, but I think my spelling has improved a lot since I first joined DVD Talk back in May of 2006.

I used to get some angry responses from members because my spelling and grammar was pretty awful. When I used a sentence like "you're correct." I typed it like "your correct." I think my grammar was definitely the weak part of my posts, when I first joined. My spelling wasn't anything to write home about either, but at least it was only mistakes like spelling interest, "intrest."

When members used to bug me about my spelling or grammar skills, I thought "who cares?", but now I can see why it's annoying.

No, but I would like to think I have helped improve the spelling and grammar of other members.

No. Since I was already the Bitch Goddess Grammar Queen of the Universe, there's no improvement possible.

To be serious for a minute, I don't know if it's improved my spelling per se, but it's made me pretty paranoid about typos. I just put up a Craigslist ad looking for 3-4 guys to join me for a weekend fishing adventure and I ended up proofreading it like 20 times.

No offense, but I don't think I'd want to admit to having my command of the English language improved by frequenting a web forum and being corrected by others. Basic intelligence, paying attention in school, and knowing how and when to consult a dictionary and/or thesaurus before commiting yourself to certain gaffes are the steps to not making yourself look like a "moran".

Just my $.02.

You guys are good. I picked out the one word I hoped nobody would catch, but you got it. Well played.

Nope, I still rely on spell check, and if I stump the spell checker (it happens often) I pick a different word.

No but it has helped my vocabulary immensely. For example, I recently learned some interesting meanings for the word "nate" and I think you should be ashamed of yourself.

My spelling has improved with Firefox, and the spell check built into it.
