When will FACEBOOK get sued?

Ok, lay of the land:

I can create a facebook profile if I wish. I accept their terms & conditions, and thereby grant facebook the right to my photos, to pass on/sell my photos, and any and all of the information I have entered into my profile, including, but not exluding, birth date, relationship status, political views, sex. orientation, etc etc etc etc etc etc.

now....my question.

ANY person can join facebook and create a fake profile - meaning, they create a profile for someone else. Maybe someone from my class whom I don't like. I just use his name and all the info I have.

Facebook has NO way of filtering consent from an actual party from fake constents.

So, when will facebook get sued? This should be interesting.

Oh, and for the record:
- I don't like facebook
- It's only a matter of time before we live in a 1984 big brother society.

You're a bit behind if you don't realize we already do.

Oh, I know - I just wanted to be spared all the idiot comments about paranoia.
If you live in the US, UK, scandinavia, australia, etc etc you're already living in a surveillance society.

Seriously, I am no apocalypse-wisher, but I believe we will see our society collapse in our lifetime.

I don't understand the concern. Why would facebook get sued? The person creating the profile read the terms and conditions and agreed to them which would lift liabilty from facebook. Wouldn't it be like a person says they are Twikoff, fills out a Credit Card application and submits it as twikoff and then ruins twikoff's credit? Is that really the credit card companies fault?

lol, you're kidding.

Ok. I pretend to be you, j123vt_99. I impersonate you and I make a legally binding contract with someone else to sell your house. They buy it.

You'll respect this, right? It's not like it's their problem I pretended to be you.

Facebook is already getting sued, but not about that. Some of Zuckerberg's former Harvard classmates claim that they came up with the idea for Facebook and hired him to do the programming and he just stole the idea for himself. They run a much smaller social networking site based in Greenwich, CT and the case is still pending AFAIK.

I hope they win and that that POS website is shut down.
It probably won't be. He'll just offer them $

Not the same example.. Now if you went through Chase who owns my mortgage, claimed to be me and sold my house, I don't see how it would be Chase's fault.

I'm over 15, so I've never visited the site and know very little about it. I know that it gets mentioned every time there's a school shooting somewhere.

Yes.

The Facebook network is just going to get bigger... They are part of Google's OpenSocial initiative now which enables interoperability between social networking sites. MySpace just followed suit and opened a developer's platform on Feb 5. MySpace latino just went Beta.

You WILL be assimilated.

Mayhap it will be Parcher who gets sued for giving people the idea to create a fake Facebook account using someone else's info...

Why would Facebook be sued? That doesn't make any sense.

Wouldn't you just go after the person who created the fake site? For instance: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/02/07...ebook-profile/

Huh? That was on topic. I asked why you care so much about the "stupid POS website" so much that you seem to want them to get sued and shut down. The great thing about websites are that you can NOT go to them and they don't affect you one bit.
