More people have been killed by snowboarding than by waterboarding. So it seems a bit odd that of the two, only the more dangerous one is an Olympic sport.

Because the US doesn't need help padding their medal count in the summer olympics.

That explains why this isn't in the sports forum. He's lost.

The winter olympics needs something to get the kids interested, while the summer olympics are doing just fine. Or isn't there something where the host country gets to choose a couple exhibition sports that if they catch on become official events in the future. Maybe that happened with snowboarding. I know that is how baseball and softball have become events.

Maybe it has to do with the need for boats and lakes?

I am trying to think of another Summer sport in the Olympics which required a motorized vehicle to pull the competitors, and I am coming up empty.

No, I can't.

But I can't name three world class snowboarders either.

That sounds like a good answer to my question.
