I bought from an eBay psycho...

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a DVD on eBay for 12.50.

I Paypal'd my money to the seller, waited a couple of days, heard nothing.

Sent an email, heard back that the item would ship soon.

Then he said he had a problem with his PayPal account, and asked if I could mail him a check. I said sure, as soon as you refund my already paid 12.50.

After a flurry of "it's about to mail" emails, I finally get a UPS tracking number.

The day before it arrives I get an email from eBay telling me they've suspended the user and that I shouldn't pay him. A little late.

Package arrives from seller: an infant t-shirt from the dollar store. WTF?
Next day another package arrives from seller: this time a dirty, used girls headband.

What will today's mail hold? A severed head? A few fingertips?

I get why he shipped the infant t-shirt - so I would have a tracking number to keep me occupied for a week. Still, that cost him a couple of bucks.

But the broken headband -shipped Priority Mail - wasn't really necessary. Seems bizarre to me

Any red flags at all, when you purchased this? (i.e. seller was new to ebay, negatives w/weird stories, no feedback as a seller, etc). You're lucky it's only $12.50. I've been on ebay for ten years, and there weren't nearly as many nutjobs and weirdos back then.

1. T-shirt
2. Headband
3. Note telling you where to send the money if you ever want to see the girl again.

I hope a pair of worried parents out there somewhere didn't just receive a copy of Bourne Ultimatum in the mail.

Not a bad way to spend $12.50. You'll get much more entertainment from this situation and thread for your $12.50 than you would get anywhere else.

Hey, she would've shipped the product, though...

he probably mailed it to you by mistake... maybe he meant to send it to another sucker/buyer.

Did you not check this seller's rating?

If they have less than 1000 transactions, it should be close to 100%

If it's over 1000 transactions, it should be no lower than 99.1%

Otherwise, you don't buy from them.

Yeah, I'm usually pretty particular about that kind of thing. In this case, the auction was ending quickly when I found it, and I basically just saw that he had a fair number of transactions, with the recent ones all positive.

It was a small ticket item, so I can't complain too much if I wasn't as cautious as I should have been. It's just his weirdo mail-me-junk behavior that's pissing me off.

Strange, he went to alot of trouble not to send you a $12.50 item.

Shirt plus postage + headband + postage probably set him back $8,so he did all this to make $4.50?

Yep. Not holding out much hope for that, though. Haven't heard too many promising stories about getting money back, despite PayPal's claims.
