If they really want people to go out and spend the money (and not save it or use to pay bills), they should send everybody gift cards to the retailer(s) of their choice.

I think it might come down to negotiations (depending on how much pressure Bush puts on the Republicans). I'm guessing the Senior benefits will survive the negotiations, maybe the increased limit will too and they'll lose the oil company benefits

So if you file your taxes before they pass a stimulus bill, what happens to your cut?

i think the cut will be for 2008 anyway so it doesnt matter. you'd still get the rebate in the summer

Looks like the dems are already backing off. They'll end up taking the house version and adding in the senior/vet benefits
