I'm 27 and want to find my dad, possible?
So 28 years ago my mom got knocked up and my dad took off. I've never met him, or for that matter seen a picture. Basically all I know about him it his name. So is it possible to find someone after so long and with so little information. Does anyone have any tip for doing so?

I agree with this. Of course I'm biased, since haven't spoken to my dad since I was 27

Maybe the dad didn't even know she got pregnant. All the OP knows is his mom's side. She could've been embarrassed over a one-night-stand and covered it by saying he took off on them. Who knows.
There's all kinds of possible scenarios. I think he should go for it. Sure, there's that chance that things may go wrong but at least he'll know and deal with it. On the bright side, there's always the chance it could be a wonderful reunion and they'll have many years knowing each other.

Do you know your grandparents or anyone on his side of the family? Do you still live in the city your parents "Created" you? I've never met my dad, but fortunately, if I ever wanted to, my older sister sees him and knows where his parents live. I'm sure 27 years later your dad may have grown up and wants to find you, too. That's how it is in the movies, right?
Anyway, I found my God Mother using Google this past Thursday. Just typed her name and city in and voila! My grandmother found her daughter she gave up for adoption many moons before she found her. I dont know how so thats useless information. But it goes to show its possible.

I was in the same boat at age 21 and after some research found out that he had died in a car accident when I was 13. Talk about a weird feeling. Be prepared to not like what you find out.

I'm guessing you could go about it the same way some people look for parents who put them up for adoption. There are a few Internet forums about that, just google it and I'm sure you'll find help.

My dad found his father when he was in his 40's. I think an organization like Blue Cross or something found him for him. Turned out his actual father was killed a week before he found him (mugged on subway) but he found a brother and two sisters we had no idea about. They have a relationship to this day!

well, with a full name and age, you could probably narrow it down pretty well, depending on how common the name is.
try something like http://www.zabasearch.com/ it has some free results and also options to pay for more detailed background info. From what I've heard and read, you can get some pretty detailed info, although I've never checked to see what they have on me. I entered my name and they have my address and phone number.
