Found out my friend's brother in law got a silver star

He's in the Army in Iraq. From what my friend's wife said he mans the turret in a humvee. Some Iraqi cops led them into an ambush and he got hit after the truck behuind his got blown up and stayed in the turret long enough to really save the day and took out a guy with a rocket launcher of some kind that likely would have taken out another one of their vehicles

I told her to make sure to let me know next time he gets to come home, he'll be eating and drinking for free that night.
Last time I saw him he was just a 19 year old kid who we were taking to the Canadian Ballet (local term for the strip clubs in niagara falls) for the first time

That is amazing. I was playing Call of Duty 4 today and thinking about all the young kids over there and how scary the shit must be.

I guess he helps train some of the police, and from what his sister said he has told them the ones that are good and loyal to the idea of a stable and free Iraq usually end up being killed along with their whole family by insurgents

I'm not sure where it happened, I don't remember if she said and I just re-read the letter from his Sergeant that she has on her myspce page and it doesn't say (probably for opsec reasons)
