How about the zoo contributes $10,000 for each Dillweed brother for college, so at the least, they'll have a chance at not becoming idiots and morons for their entire lives.

I'm assuming the medical insurance premiums their parents pay already have their kids covered. And if they don't have insurance, well, that's another thread.

I think the immortal words of Chris Rock can best sum this incident up...

"That tiger didn't go crazy...that tiger went tiger!"

Yeah, because I want to reward idiots who drink, do drugs, go out driving, and then are dumb enough to taunt wild animals. Let darwin take over.

Brothers Attacked by Tiger at SF Zoo Allege Negligence, Defamation

By LISA LEFF, Associated Press Writer

SAN FRANCISCO (Associated Press) -- Two brothers who were attacked by an escaped tiger at the San Francisco Zoo have filed claims against the city alleging negligence and defamation.

Kulbir and Amritpal "Paul" Dhaliwal are seeking monetary compensation for "serious physical and emotional injuries." The claims filed this week are a prerequisite for filing a civil lawsuit.

The pair were injured on Christmas Day after a 250-pound Siberian tiger scaled the walls of its enclosure, attacked them and killed their friend, 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr. The animal eventually was shot dead by police.

The walls of the outdoor enclosure later were found to be lower than recommended by an accrediting agency for the nation's zoos.

The documents allege the city failed in its duty to provide a safe zoo environment, defamed the brothers by spreading falsehoods about their possible role in provoking the attack and improperly impounded Kulbir Dhaliwal's car.

"The Dhaliwal brothers' attorneys have made clear from the beginning that they intended to sue the city," said Matt Dorsey, a spokesman for City Attorney Dennis Herrera.

The claims do not specify a dollar amount for the damages.

Kulbir Dhaliwal suffered deep cuts and bite wounds on his body, underwent surgery to repair the damage to his knees and has scars from his injuries, the claims said. They also allege that he was defamed by a public relations consultant that the San Francisco Zoological Society hired after the attack and made the target of "intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress."

San Francisco police spent more than a month investigating the maulings while weighing whether to seek criminal charges against the Dhaliwals. The lead investigator said in January the tiger "may have been taunted/agitated by its eventual victims," but the department suspended its investigation without recommending charges.

The city has 45 days to respond to the claims with either a formal denial or a settlement offer, Dorsey said. If a formal denial is issued, the brothers would have six months to file a lawsuit, he said.

Dorsey said it was too soon to say how the city would respond. Settlements usually are offered in simple cases such as minor accidents involving government vehicles and "more complex issues typically proceed to litigation," he said.

I knew this was comming when it happened......

If only this were a million years ago. Three guys that dumb would simply have been deleted from the gene pool by the tiger and the human species incrementally improved for future generations.

Tiger attack victim arrested as theft suspect

Saturday, March 29, 2008

(03-28) 16:09 PDT San Leandro - --

The younger of two brothers who survived a Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo was arrested on suspicion of trying to steal two video game controllers from a San Leandro store, police said Friday.

Paul Dhaliwal, 19, hid two Nintendo Wii controllers in his pants at the Target store at the Bayfair Center mall about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, San Leandro police Lt. Tom Overton said.

Store security officer Michael Marucut, dressed in plain clothes, told authorities that he witnessed the theft and followed Dhaliwal as he walked past the cash registers, "never making an attempt to pay for the concealed items," the police report said.

Once Dhaliwal walked outside the store, Marucut and several other security officials confronted him. Dhaliwal "was uncooperative and immediately began to resist," Marucut wrote in a statement included in the police report.

Dhaliwal was subdued and placed under citizen's arrest. Officer Warren DeGuzman arrived and took Dhaliwal into custody. After he was read his rights, Dhaliwal "admitted to selecting and concealing the merchandise," DeGuzman wrote in his report.

But Dhaliwal said he never left the store with the items, the police report said.

Dhaliwal, whose scars from the tiger attack are still visible on his head, was arrested for petty theft, Overton said. Dhaliwal posted $1,500 bail shortly before 3 p.m. Friday, police said.

The incident at Target happened on the same day the brothers filed a claim against the city of San Francisco, seeking unspecified monetary damages in connection with the tiger attack. A message left for Paul Dhaliwal wasn't returned.

The alleged shoplifting incident isn't his first brush with the law.

In February, both he and his brother, Kulbir Dhaliwal, 24, who also survived the tiger attack, were in court to seek the personnel records of San Jose officers who arrested them after they scuffled with police on Sept. 7. But at a hearing Friday, the defense withdrew that motion, said Stuart Scott, a Santa Clara County deputy district attorney. An attorney for Paul Dhaliwal did not return a call for comment.

After that incident, both men were charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Paul Dhaliwal was also charged with misdemeanor battery on a police officer.

The brothers were arrested after they allegedly refused to cooperate with officers who reported seeing them chase two men down the street, according to police reports.

Paul Dhaliwal is accused of hitting an officer in the chest with his forearm as the officer tried to restrain him, leading to the battery charge. He stopped resisting only when an officer held a stun gun to his neck and threatened to use it, according to a police report.

Kulbir Dhaliwal cursed at officers while kicking the security partition in a squad car, forcing police to pull him out and put him in leg restraints, the police report states.

In February, Paul Dhaliwal pleaded not guilty to marijuana possession after being cited Dec. 21 for allegedly having 1.8 grams of pot in his pocket while in the parking lot of a Milpitas hotel.

He had been placed on probation three days before that incident after pleading no contest to felony reckless driving and other charges for leading police on a 140 mph chase on April 28, court records show.

Here's a quote I thought was funny from one of the Bay Area residences:

it wasn't his fault.. the walls around the video controllers should have been higher to prevent them from jumping into his pants.

UPDATE:

Proving once again that it pays to be an asshole in this country:

Zoo settles with brothers in tiger attack

The San Francisco Zoo agreed Thursday to pay $900,000 to two brothers who survived the fatal attack by an escaped tiger on Christmas Day 2007, sources familiar with the case told The Chronicle.

The agreement with Kulbir, 25, and Amritpal "Paul" Dhaliwal, 20, resolves claims the brothers brought in U.S. District Court against the city, zoo and Sam Singer, a crisis public relations consultant the zoo hired after the attack, one source said.

Thursday's settlement comes less than two weeks after attorneys for the brothers filed court documents alleging that police officials had ordered officers to issue arrest warrants for the Dhaliwals, accusing them of manslaughter in the death of their friend, 17-year-old Carlos Sousa Jr. of San Jose, who was killed by the tiger.

Police command staff ordered the arrest warrants to deflect attention from the city's negligence and to intimidate the brothers, "even though they were informed that the investigation could not substantiate involuntary manslaughter charges, or any charges being brought against (the Dhaliwals)," attorneys Mark Geragos and Shelley Kaufman wrote in seeking to update the lawsuit to pursue more damages against the city.

At the time, zoo and city representatives suggested the three must have taunted the tiger before it jumped out of its enclosure. The brothers were never arrested nor charged with wrongdoing in connection with the tiger's escape.

City officials referred questions on the case to the zoo, where officials did not return calls seeking comment.

The Zoological Society earlier this year settled a lawsuit with the Sousa family for an undisclosed amount.

The Dhaliwal brothers' lawsuit alleged the zoo was negligent on multiple fronts, including keeping the 243-pound Siberian tiger named Tatiana in an enclosure that had walls 4 feet lower that what is recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. They also say the zoo ignored workers' warnings about the wall height.

They also contended that Kulbir Dhaliwal wasn't attacked until after an employee refused to allow him into the safety of a zoo cafe. That incident occurred about 20 minutes after the tiger leapt from its grotto and attacked Paul Dhaliwal before turning on Sousa, the lawsuit said.

Kulbir Dhaliwal also argued his federal civil rights were violated because he was deprived the use of his BMW M3, the car the three took to the zoo. Police impounded the car during their investigation but didn't seek a court order to search it until they had had the car for about two weeks, according to the lawsuit.

City Attorney Dennis Herrera's office has said the city is not liable and that its lease with the San Francisco Zoological Society, the nonprofit that operates the zoo, protects it in the lawsuit. The lawsuit also accused Singer of libel and slander for allegedly engaging in a smear campaign to suggest the young men were disreputable and had taunted the tiger. Singer also denied wrongdoing.

At the time of the attack, both brothers were facing charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest after a Sept. 7, 2007, scuffle with San Jose police. They were later convicted.

Paul Dhaliwal also has a series of other criminal convictions, including one for leading police on a 140-mph chase through San Jose in April 2007.

Geragos said the settlement included "an implicit recognition that what Sam Singer did was despicable," saying such recognition is "when somebody writes you a check."

Singer's voice mail message indicated he was out of the country. He could not be reached for comment.

Nope. These boys are minorities. Groups like PETA and NOW and others like them only go after whites or males or religions or boy scouts or conservatives.

The good news is that the money these 2 receive will likely go straight to illegal drug use and they'll OD much faster than they probably had the money to otherwise. God will sort this one out..

It doesn't. It slowly deteriorates. You won't notice right away, but one day, people will wake up and they will be fucked. We're getting to that point.

That being said, I hope the two brothers buy a Hummer, and decide to drive it off a mile-high cliff to see how the airbags work.
