Your avatar accurately describes my response to your post.

I hate to say this, but you need to be extra careful for a while. If these guys "hit the jackpot" and got a lot of nice stuff they know you will replace it. Either because you have insurance or because you are well off. Again, not to scare you, but I have seen the same people getting "hit" twice within a couple of months as no doubt they came back to get what they figured you had replaced.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was pretty close to calling bullshit on this thread but I didn't want to be the first.

I already jumped on that sword.

At least now he can stop monopolizing his 'friend's computer' at all hours of the day to post here....

I bet you feel good about yourself now. If you're going to report a post, just report it and shut up about it. Doing otherwise just makes you look like a tattle-tale deputy policeman.

There is a whole world outside of TV. There are these things called newspapers, and they have plenty of space for local crime briefs. Certainly two elderly people being held at gunpoint in their own home during a burglary would make the paper.

Tomorrow is my day off. As a member of the news media myself, I may just call the Moore Police Department and ask their media spokesman if there has been such a case recently. That should answer everyone's questions.

I was thinking of doing that, but I figured DVDFreaker would get caught up on some detail eventually.

And I think porieux figured it out ahead of all of us. Nice catch.

I figured he would, too. I've been covering cop beats for a long time, in small towns and decent-sized cities. The kind of robbery he described is extremely rare. Thieves much prefer it when no one is home.

I've been following this thread with some interest, but now I'm completely confused...

The OP insulted a user, then insulted another user that reported the post.

Something about "Dalvin-ish".

OP leaves a post with a new username. Or did they...?

Then it's all a hoax...?

What? WHAT?

Not quite the exact same thing, but in '94 we had a roommate mugged in the carport by two guys and two months later the house was burglarized. This was a quiet, nice, out of the way neighborhood and I would guess it was the same guys.
