What are your medium range goals?

I use to set goals for 1 year, 4 year, an 10 year.

One of the long term ones was to have a condo on Hawaii. My parents inherited one, and it was a great place, but the idea of owning one was better than the reality. We ended up selling it. And I decided that wasn't a goal I needed anymore.

I had a goal to teach my kids to swim, and they are both very good swimmers now.

I had a goal to put money away for their college, and we had another kid, so that went up, but I got it done.

The only goal I currently have is a time table to pay off all mortgages I have, and that isn't going to happen this year, or next year, or the year after....so it is the only long term goal I have.

The point is that I find that I don't want the Hawaii thing, and the other goals have been met, and now I lack some motivation. I need some new middle range goals, but don't know what they should be.

What are yours? Or do you even keep goals?

My financial ones are fairly meager and modest.

I do want to play most of the great Shakespeare roles, and most of the great baritone musical leads. I'm getting there. (The next big role I'm shooting for is the lead (Higgins) in My Fair Lady in Spring 2008. Richard III just closed.)

My personal goal of finding a mate and settling down as part of a couple doesn't look like it's any closer to fruition than, say, 20 years ago.

Four-burner, digital display w/timer, self-cleaning would be nice but not a necessity.

That is awesome. One of the truly great characters, in my mind.

To get out of the basement i have been forced to live in following my separation/divorce.

Actually that is a short term goal, but since i dont see it happening within the next 5-7 years, i am calling it medium range.

I like that goal. It would be possible for me to hit, but hard.

Here's part of the problem....my home could use a serious remodel and addition (MORE MAN ROOM!!!). So part of me thinks it would be a good goal to save money up for that. But that goes against my tight ass nature to pay everything off.

My short term goals are to paint, recarpet the house, do some landscaping in front of the house and replace the bathrooms. Those are also my mid term goals.

My long term goals are to travel. I want to see the world.

I want a beach house. Nothing fancy or new...just something with a clean bathroom, kitchen and room with a view.

I have never been much of a goalsetter. Typically, I just decide it's time to do something and do it, as long as it's financially feasible in some way. That's how I approached my first car, first house, first hooker, etc.

My wife, thanks in large part to Dave Ramsey, is all about financial goals now, so we're actively working towards paying everything off. All non-mortgage debt will be gone in a little over a year from now. Aside from completing our home remodel, we haven't put much thought into goals after the debt is gone. We do want to start a family soon, so I guess that's a goal that will bring a whole new set of goals along with it.

I would like to visit Japan, Korea, and Singapore at some point.

How many would you like? I have 4 beach houses (foreclosures) currently for sale. Direct Gulf of Mexico frontage. I also have 11 condominiums (foreclosures).

My short term goal is to sell all of them!

None of those are close to the Pacific NW, so I think Kitty's out of the market on those.

Short term: Finish basement development by October.

Medium term: Buy a sedan to replace by-then my quite old Accord.

Long term: The mortgage will be paid off in 10 years. At which point we will be moving to Victoria, BC.
