Vasectomy Question...

Well...the time has almost arrived. Coming up in October, I'll officially end my servcie as an adult who is able to reproduce!!! My Wife and I had our 4th and final child 4 months ago and when my vacation rolls around in October, I plan on getting a Vasectomy to end the madness!!!!

My question is for those out there in Otterland who have went through with this. I know it's not a big deal and your in and out relatively quick etc. My question is...What can I expect to pay for this surgery?? My insurance will pick up 90% of the bill, but I have no idea what this costs. What would my price range be so to speak?? I'm just trying to get a general idea so I'll know what to set aside and be able to pay for right away. Any help or ideas anybody can give me is much appreciated.

Please, no horror stories though

I'm sure it will be cheaper than raising a 5th child!
And it has to be cheaper than your wife having surgery getting her tubes tied

That is a very useful site Kitty. I appreciate you posting it.

Yes, it would be cheaper than raising a 5th child, mind you though, we have always planned to have 4 kids. We've been married for 11 years. I don't want my wife to have to go back into the hospital for surgery to get her tubes tied, so this would be the most logical step. After all, she did all that pushing w/ 4 kids, I guess I can put up with some type of discomfort right??

I do, but they can't always be depended on. This is how our 3rd kid was conceived. I've got a pretty freaky wife though, so my logic is this may work in my favor

I appreciate everyone's response. Thank You.

I'm getting "fixed" in October as well. Why don't we just designate one Friday, "Vasectomy Friday"

No kidding, me too. I should have listened and wore my jock like the doctor told me to. I was walking around the next day like it was nothing, but a week later I had a knot on the back of my right testicle the size of my thumb.

I paid 10 bucks with Kaiser, took an hour. Had a little pain after the procedure but with pain meds it was fine.

Step 1: Get reproductive organs surgically mangled.
Step 2: Apply Ice.
Step 3: Fall asleep.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit.

1. Price - free (National Health Service)

2. Make sure you wear supportive underwear for a while afterwards - until the bruising/tenderness goes. You don't want them swinging about.

3. The worst part was the itching as the hair grows back!

Good luck

No matter what anyone here says, just make sure you choose the cheapest option and maintain constant ice on the afflicetd area after the surgery.....

Look at it this way, Dave: any guy who has this surgery and complains, now has your story as the "hey, it could always be worse!" comparison. It's your own little public service.
