no no no....you use very soft bread and let it sit for about 10 minutes or so...the honey soaks into the bread and gets a very soft crunch to it. 
I ate these all the time as a kid, and actually rediscovered them in the last year. I eat two or three a week of late. so good!

I just found this thead. I just finished eating one of these.
It's my sandwich of choice when I stuck working graveyard shifts. I've had one 3 of the last 4 nights. When I'm stuck with 7 nights in a row, I've had them all 7 nights in a row on many occasions.
Oh, and I agree with brizz....that's the best.

I tried my first (and only) Fluffernutter a year or two ago.
I love peanut butter, bread, and marshmallow individually, but together, in a sandwich? One of the nastiest fucking things I've ever had.

Thank GOD I got here in time! You guys are doing it ALL WRONG! 
Peanut butter and honey should be combined, then spread on BOTH slices of squooshy white or wheat bread, and for Jesus' sake DO NOT toast them!
Then in between the PB&H you place two or three lengthwise slices (however many will fit) of fresh banana.
Then, if you're Elvis, you deep fry it.

FWIW, R.U.B. (a nearby barbecue joint) and Peanut Butter & Co. in the village both sell these REAL Elvis sandwiches - PB, honey, banana & bacon.

I used to eat fluffernutters all the time as a kid - sort of an alternative after 3 pb&js.
I also had the pb and honey, but very rarely.
