What the hell are those things, anyway? The only time I've ever seen them was at a Costco, where there were about 20 people absolutely tearing through the rack like the shoes were made of gold or something.

Because they're tough, made in lots of colors, comfortable and cheap, they're basically perfect three season shoes for children under the age of 12. My kids have pairs and wear them every day.

Having said that, and regardless of their practicality, everyone else should view them as fashion plutonium.

My wife has a pair she adores for their comfort. A colleague of mine suffered a severe ankle break during a pit bull attack almost two years ago, and after multiple surgeries involving pins, plates, and screws, her Crocs™ are about the only shoes she can stand to wear. I've looked at them, but haven't taken the plunge.

We were going to buy them but then I found an imitation pair in Target for like $4.95 and they look and feel exactly the same. They are great for wearing to the pool or to the beach. I'm not a sandals/flip flops kinda of guy but these are a decent compromise between those and shoes.

You can get imitations at the flea market for $5 a pair, my wife says they are identical in fit and feel as she owns both.

I can't understand what would drive people to wear these. It makes you look like a bag lady. I know Teva's are so 10 years ago but is this how far we've come where something that looks like Fischer-Price My First Sandal is de rigueur?

No thanks. I'll stick with my Rainbows.

When I took the bus there was an old lady who always wore a different color. I always assumed she was crazy.

But they're distinctive and famous people wear them. I think they look great with my ridiculously oversized sunglasses.

Yes, I still have a pair of testicles, which is why I don't have a pair of those absurd looking "shoes."

Absolutely agree. Not long ago, only gardeners would be seen in plastic clogs, and suddenly they're everywhere. Even Disneyland sells a version where the holes are in Mickey-head shape, and they're fugly, just like all of them are.

ANOTHER fashion trend I can't understand. Here in L.A., they're everywhere, and most of them have insufficient shading and protection to even serve their supposed purpose. Plus, they look like something an 80-year-old grandma would wear to a casino. No, thank you.

I've seen them. I never knew what they were called, but Crocs seemed like a decent fit. I'd never wear them. I'm not sure of the appeal of them. I'd either wear sandals or real water shoes, depending on what my purpose was.

And based on the original photo, are you even supposed to wear socks with these things? It looks kind of like socks and sandals. Not a good move...
