Am I the only one who doesn't recognize office romances?

I'm working my way through THE OFFICE season 2. I was laughing with a co-worker about it, and mentioned the whole Pam/Jim relationship. I said something about how obvious it is in the show and how I've never seen anything like that in our office.

My co-worker then rattled off a whole list of people who have been fooling around. So and so are doing this, so and so were caught making out in the weight rooms, so and so is cheating on his wife with so and so. My jaw pretty much hit the floor. At first I didn't believe her, but when another co-worker walked by, she knew all the gossip too.

Are office romances normal and I've got blinders on? I mean, it's as if I'm not only the only person who isn't aware of them, I'm the only one not having one. Geesh.

I tend to be clueless about these things unless someone tells me.

Men are usually not into office gossip as much as women are, at least from what I've experienced.

Based on your subject header, I thought you meant you didn't acknowledge/sanction them as in "the state of Utah doesn't recognize gay marriage."

Me dumb.

I don't either. I'm too busy posting to DVDTalk all day to pay any attention to what goes on at my office.

"she knew all the gossip too"

But does she know any facts?

Actually, I thought the exact same thing. "Office relationships are not law-abiding in MY sight..."

That moaning and grunting sound coming from the restrooms isn't always constipation.

I don't recognize them because I don't care

The only time I find out about them is when one of my friends is involved in one or people get fired over it (and yes that has happend a couple times).

Ah, this is interesting all very interesting. Glad I'm not alone. Maybe if the hot girls in the office were part of the craziness, then I'd notice.

Oh wait. What hot girls?

If done properly, any office romance between two intelligent professionals should go unnoticed. It's called being discreet.

There are no hot women in my office either. Well, at least I don't recognize their hotness (on pain of death from my wife).

That's the case with every hot girl I currently know. I think it's a natural defense, like the frill on a frilled lizard.

I'm having an office romance with Bandoman, but he's so clueless, he acts like it doesn't exist.

I was/am involved in an office romance. My bf was my prior supervisor's peer and actually was involved in interviewing me. We started up 2 months after I started. We kept it very discreet. The only person who knew was one of my co-workers and that's only because he ran into us having dinner in the town I live in.

God, I hope nobody in my office is having a romance. There are not two people down there I'd ever want to see hook up, and the thought of it alone terrifies me.

There were rumors for months about two people I used to work with that they were having an affair. I had my supsicions, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, despite they fact that I saw their company cell phone bills and they called each other from early in the morning to late at night as many as 30 times a day. They knew the rumors were going around and they denied it.

Anyway, one day I was walking into the server room and I walked in on them kissing each other. Very ackward moment. The guy said "oh" and turned around and started tapping on the server keyboard. I pretended I didn't see anything and just asked the girl whatever it was I went back there to ask her.

Later he asked me what all I saw. And he said he was just trying to comfort her because she has chronic migranes. She was actually off "sick" that day, but came in long enough to do the backup.

They were lucky it was me and not one of the women in the office, because if it was one of them the whole town would have known by the end of the day. I never told anyone I worked with about it.

I know when I have a migraine and I can hardly hold my head up and the slightest bit of light makes my head pound and I feel like puking there is nothing that comforts me like a nice kiss.
