$258 with R/T ticket?!

Aren't hopper flights usually $$?

The Sahara isn't bad....a bit old, and not exactly in the middle of everything, but if you want inexpensive, it isn't a bad deal. Their restaurants aren't anything great. If it is your first time to vegas, i'd strongly urge you to stay ON the strip, somewhere in the middle. I use to stay at The Alladin (now an ass-ugly planet hollywood). I even hit up the Boardwalk (RIP).....is the IP gone too? If not now...it will be soon.

Flamingo? IP?

Next step up......TI?

Oh...so yeah, uhm.... http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php

The only action the Strat is near are the good strip clubs.

I would never stay at Sahara or Strat because the locations are shitty. However, the monorail does stop at Sahara so it probably isn't as bad as it used to be.

I'd recommend staying in the middle of the strip.

Check out the Imperial Palace. Quality-wise, it's along the line of Sahara, but it's mid-strip so you can get to everything easily.

Yeah - IP is probably a good option if you are on the cheap (assuming it is still there when you travel).

IP is good for people looking to gamble and be around stuff.....not so good for people who want the Bells & Whistles 1st Time To Vegas type place. I think it is a great value for $$/location.

They have a pretty good prime rib dinner too......that is an easy freebie to get for a couple hours of gambling.

Just get the cheapest place you can find on the Strip. I once stayed at the now defunct Westward Ho with my cousin. It was a motel-y type of place, but it was extremely cheap (about $25/night) and right there on the Strip, so we could easily walk to any of the casinos. We left it in the morning and didn't see it again until we came back to sleep that night - but that's all one really needs in Vegas.

However, I do say avoid staying at Circus Circus. Just too many screaming kids at that one. So if that one is the cheapest... then stay at the next cheapest instead.

For a first timer I also recommend the middle of the strip. You don't have to gamble there but you'll want to check out the sights. The veterans who go there just to gamble usually stay downtown or off the strip. I've also heard the Rio is great because the rooms are big and reasonable.

Sarah isn't bad as it is on the Monorail, so easy to get mid strip.

I would not stay at the stratosphere.

I just booked Flamingo for 3 nights including a friday night for $316. Also Harrah's has decent rates.

Sahara is okay when the monorail is open, but if you get stuck there after the monorail shuts down you'll need to taxi it back to the main Strip. Some friends and I actually walked the stretch from Sahara to the Wynn at 2 am, it's a bit frightening. Although there was a perverse thrill to hitting all the derelict casinos (Circus Circus, Riviera, Stardust) at 2-3 am on a Tuesday night.
