... when you post a thread and it gets a lot of reads and replies?

I'm frankly amazed at what happened with my little post about the Spanish speaking vacuum cleaner.

Then you have a post like the one I did about dreams, and it drops off the page with barely a notice.

I guess it's always a crap shoot when you make a post. You may have something to say you think will be of interest, and no one takes notice. Then you make a little comment, and it blows up into a huge thread, detours and all.

Anyone have any interesting memories of posts you've made, and what became of them?

I started a thread just to share an interesting essay by Penn Gilette... and it ended up ballooning into 23 pages, lots of snarky comments and flame wars, and at least one banning. You just never know.

I mean, who'd have thunk that wergo's umpteenth whine about being single would go on and on and on for 22 days and 30 pages???

Ask Wergo. His thread trumps every thread on the first page I think.

I hate that wergo gets any kind of credit for those threads, when all the heavy lifting is done by everyone else. He just sits back and pooh-poohs and whines like a less endearing version of Eeyore.

Damn, I was enjoying the irony of this thread not getting a single post.

In a similar vein, I hate it when you take time and effort to post something insightful, funny, or just plain important to you in a thread and absolutely no one mentions it and the discussion goes on without you.

I hate it when you take the time to post something important or funny and no one pays attention.

Pretty much every thread I start goes straight off the front page.

I hate when you make a comment on lost about how the storylines should move along faster & they should get rid of alot of the flashbacks and the fanboys go off the handle!

Does it make me feel good?

Sure!

Why wouldn't it?

I mean, that would mean a lot of folks are either having fun or having a serious debate or what have you.

It's kinda like company enjoying a great meal at my place, if you will.

...and it's always fun having people over for good food & drink!

If it was a thread like the one I started criticizing the Simpsons, er, that would be a NO.

When I start a thread and it gets a bazillion replies, I feel like a king.

I would have said I feel like an "Edit" King, but that would be blasphemous.

It always cracks me up to see a poll in a thread that has Twikoff option chosen more than any other options.

That doesn't beat the "Cul De Sac bitch" thread for immediate reversals though.

Day 1: People in cul de sacs and homeowner's are snotty brats!
Day 10: I bought a home!

Would this be an OK time for me to ask what the hell is a "twikoff"? I'm not in on the joke, if that's what it is.

Didn't revisit this thread until just now. Yeah, it would've been ironic to have seen it with a bunch of views and no replies!

The one that made me feel the best was my thread about the Voyager season set deals from Blockbuster that got all kinds of attention. Not only from here, but after the deals came to an end and a buddy of mine told me how much money Blockbuster lost on the deal, he mentioned the deal was also posted at various Star Trek forums. I did a Google search and many of those other posts in various forums linked my original post.

It really amazed me the power of the Internet for a little while. I forget how much it was estimated Blockbuster lost on those sets, but I never imagined my thread would go that far. I thought I was just sharing a deal with a few interested folks here.

I don't think he would appreciate being called a 'joke'.

So, you're the one that forced Blockbuster into bankruptcy?
