Who's stranger - SW or LOTR Fans?

I remember all these funny fights online (and in Clerks II) betwen SW and LOTR fans. There were some links a few years ago to a SW forum that were 'interesting' to say the least.

I have always thought that SW fans were much stranger than LOTR, but maybe the SW here can explain why that's not the case. I know that some people try to improve the normalcy of the group, to make it less strange.

Thoughts?

LoTR fans, marginally, but only because they are a newer (for the most part) phenomenon and haven't become so blase' yet.

Yup. I used to hang out with this friend of mine and we used to go places together and hang out and have fun.... Then she got all into the Harry Potter stuff. She started obsessing over the books and movies, quoting from them and trying to talk like them, using their verbage. It was really creepy. Then she started to read the fan-fiction stuff and would stay up all night waiting for a new one to be posted. It was really sad to watch her go so far downhill. She even wanted to re-name one of her boys "Harry".

If you're trying for fan-fic, that's the wrong verb.

LOTR fans BY FAR.

Those movies are excruciatingly boring and annoying, and it perplexes me that anyone would be driven to fandom by it.

Harry Potter fans, LOTR fans are indeed both very annoying.

Lost fans can be annoying at times as well, through i watch the show and buy the DVD's i don't take the show as seriously as those nerds and defend every fricken aspect of the show.

im a star wars fan but i don't have a bitchfest about collecting everything there is of star wars merc.

Anime fans are the worse i think. how do they watch that stuff, its pure boring.
neh.... were can i find the new poke'mon dvd...neh.
i how do people watch that creepy garbage?

I don't know, but I saw '300' last night, and there were two guys there dressed up as Spartans. I think I must have accidentally walked into the comic book nerd showing! Everyone cheered when the title graphic came up.

I thought you meant Howard Phillips!

For a second, I thought there was a chance that I might be socially awkward. (Or .....on to something deep. Delving beyond my human reach, subsequently going insane and dying in the worst way. And that being only the beginning of the horror.)

Good to hear I'm not the socially awkward one.

Dude, seriously. Buy a fucking newspaper. Joke on everything you think is worthwhile to joke on and get yourself a writing job. Groucho, too! So much wasted talent. We're all bored peons.
