Question about dietary supplements

As a long time cyclist/runner I've never really been into lifting weights all that much.

A friend of mine recently joined my gym and he's been giving me "lessons" on how to lift. Are there any supplments actually help you lose fat/gain mass? I take protein now but I'm wondering if anything else out there in PROVEN to work.

Eating cleanly with lots of lean proteins and good fats... If you want to gain more weight, just up the fat content. Also, make sure you are lifting heavy, primarily doing squats, deadlifts, and presses. I wouldn't waste my time with supplements, as in you will only get as big as your body will allow and they aren't going to help any more than lifting heavy and eating right. Plus, if you continue to run and bike, that is only going to be counterproductive to getting "bigger".

A lot of the supplements out there are pure crap with very little science backing up whether they work or not.

It's not impossible, but it is dificult to lose fat and gain mass at the same time since you have to consume enough good calories to gain mass and some of that will be turned into fat for most people and as mentioned if you still run or bike a lot you can forget about gaining mass.

Protein, a good multivitamin, and flaxseed oil or an oil blend should be good enough.

whey protein + Vitargo + Leucine BCCA =Postworkout shake.

That cocktail has been proven to work. I read it in a science medical journal

Unless you are a bodybuilder going through a cutting phase trying to get to 5-6% bodyfat BCAA supplements are a waste of money. Whey is loaded with them.

I tried Vitargo and didn't notice any real difference, plus it was a huge pain in the ass to take.

Yeah, maybe having a turtle penis won't hurt so bad when you hit a big rock on that bike!

Is turtle penis supposed to be beneficial? I've been taking tiger penis (doctor-prescribed) but I'll try the turtle if it'll help. I'll try any kind of penis, really.
