Does anyone here have T-Mobile, and how is it?

Not sure if this should be here or Tech, but I was curious about T-Mobile. The plan sounds good, but are they a good company/cell phone? What we were offered is: 3 free phones (no frills), 1000 minutes, and whatever their call-five-people-for-free thing is for $60/mo.

Has anyone here had or have their service?

Good phones, good plans, bad coverage.

You can't really ask people how their cell phone service is because it all depends on a large number of variables.

Don't get Amp'd, and don't get it at Best Buy:

They sign you up for a plan you don't want and you will end up with a $5,000 phone bill.

In general, T-Mobile is good for big cities and major metropolitan areas. Once you start getting rural, it ain't so good.

My wife and I have had it for about 8 years now (started when it was Voicestream) and have no issues - but 99% of the time we are using it in a big city area.

Live in NY as well and never have had a problem with service. I've been with them since their Voicestream days.

Another positive review here. The only complaint is the one mentioned about coverage area.

I had T-Mobile a few years back. The prices were competitive and the coverage was usually good, but the phone I got with it (Motorola) crapped out in less than a year. Other than that, I don't really have any complaints.

I've been with them since 2001 and have never had any problems with them. The best thing about them is they have the perfect plan for me. I pay $30 for 300 minutes, which is usually more than I need.

You and me both. They've got great cheap plans for people who barely need a cellphone. I use probably use 30 to 60 minutes a month of my 300 plan.

Type in your zip code to check out coverage in your area: http://t-mobile.com/coverage/

I had them for about 2 months in LA. Worst coverage I could ever imagine- I paid $200 AND ate the $300 cost of the Sidekick3 to drop their service. I'm in Indiana at the moment, and have been around Michigan lately with a girl who has tmobile- her service is even worse around here than it was in LA.

I have a sidekick3 you can buy if you want it.

I've had T-Mobile since 2002 and never had any major problems. Their coverage is expanding all the time, and I live just outside a metro area. When I travel for work and I lose their signal, I pick up some other carrier else right away with no problems.

They are very quick in sending out upgrades and what not. I upgraded seamlessly to a family plan for my fiancee and myself; ordered it on a Wednesday night, service was activated Thursday and received the phone Friday.

Don't they give you 30 days to cancel a new contract? I just got a new phone from them and they told me about a 14 day return policy, but I'm already a subscriber.

I would have cancelled during that window.

Edit: Found it on T-Mobile's site

or T-Mobile.com, 1-877-387-4324, and 1-800-T-MOBILE sales and activations only:
You may cancel Service without paying a cancellation fee within the Return Period, which is 20 calendar days from the date of your order (30 days in CA). During the Return Period, you can cancel Service for any reason so long as you: (a) contact us to cancel Service; and (b) return with proof of purchase, any product purchased from T-Mobile.com, 1-877-387-4324, or 1-800-T-MOBILE in connection with your activation of Service.

One of my friends had it and she had a terrible time with it. She lives here in Grand Rapids, Michigan and would call her mom in Detroit 2-3 times a week. Invariably, the call would get dropped while she was walking around her apartment. It would drop calls in other places too. After months of fighting with CS about the phone, they sent her a new one and the problems were somewhat alleviated. She still had dropped calls, but not as many as before. Finally, when her then-boyfriend/now-husband's cell phone contract was up, they both went in together on a pair of Sprint phones and they haven't looked back.

I've had Sprint, AT&T Wireless (the first time around) and T-Mobile, and T-Mobile's the only one I have no complaints about.

I miss Catherine Zeta-Jones

wish it wasn't the case, but everyone who gets sprint of unicel around here is not pleased with coverage.

I've been with T-Mo since the Voicestream days & I have never had any problems with coverage, CS or billing. I travel several times per year and have had very few signal issues throughout the US.

I WAS with t-mobile and the plan and price was great but their customer service was so-so.....also I was under the family plan and they for their life of jehovah couldn't keep track of the mobile to mobile and nighttime OR weekends straight. I got credited 350 bucks on TWO different occassions b/c they overcharged me. THis was a few years ago so maybe it's gotten much better.
