Anybody use the Angel Food Network?

I heard about it from a coworker and we've been buying from it for several months now. It's sort of like a co-op, only with set menus for each month. Their website is at www.angelfoodministries.com.

Basically, you pay $25 for a supply of restaurant-grade food, mostly frozen and boxed/canned, that would feed a family of four for about a week. A single person like me can make it last almost a month. You can buy as many $25 "units" as you like, and they also sell "specials" each month for $18 a unit -- stuff like grill meats and that sort of thing.

There's no qualifying process -- anyone can buy from them and the more people who participate, the better since the program will continue. The "grocery game" thread got me thinking about it.

We've done it. Actually, it was through my mother-in-laws encouragement. It wasn't a bad deal, although I can't say what we received would've fed a family of four for a week. Problem was the day we were to pick up (which is at a specific time) the truck was 3 hours late and we had to wait. We haven't done it since

Not too bad. Too much fried chicken and variants thereof -- chicken tenders, etc. but it does save on the grocery bill. I still have to buy milk, eggs, bread, butter and produce fresh, but it saves me time in the store too.

I looked for a link to donate but couldn't find one - admittedly I didn't spend a long time looking. Do they take monetary donations....?

I'm sure they do. There's a toll free number for them -- I'll see if I can find it for you.
