I'm rich..now I'm poor..again

I quit my job a couple of weeks ago and yesterday the final check popped into my account. but it was 2k more than usual. I figured it was back pay or vacation pay or something like that. I spent the entire day happy. Being rich was fun.

Then today, I go back to the bank to get some cash and the 2k is gone. All of a sudden I was poor again. I never touched the money, and I only 'had' it for 24 hours, but let me tell you, you know when you have no money. Now I'm sad again.

I'm guessing that either my old job made a mistake and quickly fixed it, or some world crime organization was watching my account and as soon as it got over $24, they struck and emptied it out.

Now I know how the other half feels.

Now Im thinking that I shoulda withdrew it all as soon as I saw it, but then I'd probably just be at negative $2,000 now.

I quit because I got a better job. not a whole lot better, but better.

Ok, I thought you might have just quit w/o getting another job. If that were case I wouldn't feel sorry for you.

Did you get back pay for vacation? Were you supposed to?

I got back pay when I got let go b/c of staff reductions a while back.

Good luck with the new job.

2K more than usual!

Was the amount originally memo posted to your account when you saw it, meaning that you couldn't see it on your bank statement if you checked it online but it was included in your total balance? Because if it was just memo posted, that money wasn't actually "there" until hit hard posts to your account. Technically, banks should not pay out on memo posted credits because it's not guaranteed they will hard post for the same amount/at all. I know banks pay out on them all the time because the wide majority of the time they post to the account for the same amounts, but if you had withdrawn that money while it was just memo posted and it hard posted for less, then you'd be poorer, owing the bank overdraft fees!
